I really, really wanted to give you and explanation about this, but I don't have one. i wrote this after I watched the sneak peaks from episodes 6 and 7 from the fourth season. Here in Brazil we still are in season one on TV (I'm watching on Netflix - they have until the third season), so I didn't watch the last episodes. Therefore, I apologize if there's any mistakes.
Also, I didn't review this - anyone up to beta my other fics?! Hahaha
The title is from a song from The Used - they released a new album and I'm SO HAPPY OMG.
I don't own Scorpion *sighs*
The sky is clear tonight. It's a beautiful night, full of stars.
There's a soft breeze blowing, so the gang decided to do a barbecue on the roof to celebrate - in a intimate way - Sly's birthday.
Cabe is sitting in one of the chairs, enjoying the peace. He knows that they'll most likely have a case tomorrow, so he wants to enjoy it while it last.
He watches his surroundings.
Four years ago, if someone had told him that this is where he was going to be, he would have scoffed at them.
They couldn't interact with normal people and they thrived at the beginning to fit.
If not for Paige and her son, probably they would have stayed that way.
He turns to look as Sly and Ralph play a logic game - he doesn't dare ask which one. He's not going to understand it, anyway.
They are both focused on their task, while Toby is keeping score next to them.
Happy is handling the grill while Paige and Walter talk with her.
They've all been through so much and, to see how happy, how in peace they all are, it makes his old, battered heart leaps with joy.
Especially Walter.
He considers that man his son. And to see him, with his hand on Paige's lower back, throwing quiet glances at Ralph, only fortifies his beliefs of how much he has grown.
He remembers how he sat with Ralph that one morning, the advices he gave to the kid to make him win the heart of his crush.
And earlier, he saw him practicing with his guitar. He doesn't know the contents of the song, but he knows to whom he's going to sing it.
He's improving, every day. All thanks to the woman next to him.
Walter may consider him his father, but Paige gave him a sense of belonging that Cabe would never be able to.
The agent reclines on his chair, taking a long, deep breath.
"The steak is ready, Cabe!" Happy yells at him, ordering him to come closer.
It's a beautiful night indeed.
