January 1, 1825
Pemberley, Derbyshire
England

The new year dawned bright and clear. It was cold outside on this first day of 1825. Not so on the inside of Pemberley. Inside the walls of the great estate in Derbyshire was a warm and joy-filled place.
Sighs of contentment could be heard from behind the doors of the Mistresses bedchamber in the first hours of January.
Go inside those doors and you would find a man gently caressing the face of his wife and newborn sons, James and Alexander.
Though the news of his heirs made his heart leap with joy, Fitzwilliam Darcy had eyes only for the mother of his sons, his wife Elizabeth.
She stirred when her brown curls, mussed in the long hours of childbirth, became tangled in his fingers. She opened her eyes slightly and looked at him, giving him one of her teasing smiles that had so bewitched him that autumn so long ago.

"We have a fine pair of sons, do we not Mr. Darcy?" she said laughingly.
Darcy answered, "We do indeed, Elizabeth, we do indeed."

So it was that Mr. Darcy's sons, James Charles Darcy and Alexander George Darcy made there first appearance into the world. The firstborn James, held his father's fiery temper, but inherited his mother's laughing eyes. Alexander, on the other hand, resembled his father in every way but one...he had his mother's smile.
