John walked around the corner of the hospital and was surprised to see Natalie standing there—staring through the viewing window and into the now empty nursery, "Hey—this area, it's not been opened for people to come back in here. You should get back down to the ER."

"I know—I just needed to go for a walk—get some air," she said as she looked at him.

John studied her face, she seemed pale—must not have been completely over the bug she'd gotten, "You ok? You aren't still sick, are you?"

Natalie was able to hide the laugh that wanted to come out with a cough, "No, I'm fine. I was just standing here thinking—about dreams I once had. I used to—," she stopped in mid-sentence at realizing John probably didn't want to think about those things. He probably never had before.

He didn't look at her as he spoke, but just stared into the empty nursery himself as he remembered the scenes he'd once had visions of, "The night of the accident I had this vision. I'm not sure if it truly happened before or after the accident, but it was of us and our kids. We had two, a boy and a girl—he looked like me, but had your mouth," he said with a chuckle. "She was beautiful—had your hair and your smile. We were at Rodi's playing pool. Well, they were playing—we were just helping them along. It felt so real, Natalie—."

She stood there watching him speak, and the tears just started flowing—as much as she wanted them to stop she couldn't. The picture he was painting for her was more beautiful than she had ever imagined, and while she'd been contemplating his reaction just a few minutes prior, she wasn't scared to tell him what she'd realized earlier in the night.

John took a deep breath as the images finished playing out in his mind before looking at Natalie, "Hey—why are you crying? Is something wrong with Jess?"

"No—Jess is going to be ok. I realized why I was so sick this past week. John—I think—no, I know I'm pregnant."

John stood there for just a moment—for the past few weeks he'd been scared what to do, how to act, what to say when it came to Natalie. But then he just pulled her into his arms and held her. Eventually she looked up at him and blue eyes connected and they knew—the dreams of their future were not broken. That just like in the past, whenever it seemed that the connection was lost, something came along to remind them that it wasn't—that through the dark the other was there, and would always be.
