Dear dad,I miss you. I never met you but I know that you were the greatest man mum ever met in her life. She always tells me stories of you daddy, how you were always nice to her,how you went into the hunger games and became a Victor and A mentor.

Mum tells me how you were taken away from her most of the time to the Capitol. She told me how you went to war with Auntie Katniss and risked your own life for her.

Now I am learning how to fish with a spear while mum helps me. I caught my very first fish yesterday,it was stressful but I finally caught it. It made a yummy dinner,I wish you were here to see it daddy and enjoy it with us.

Pictures of you and mum are scattered around the house, mum is slowly recovering from loosing you. At random moments she puts her hands over her ears as if to block something,I calm her a lot of the time so this doesn't happen. She loves to make shell necklaces and sell them, this keeps her happy and occupied. She has your trident, which she is going to give to me when I'm 14. She says I look a lot like you with my sea-green eyes and bronze hair, she misses you a lot dad.

School's ok,I guess. I'm very popular with the girls, mum says I follow in your footsteps. Everywhere I walk in District 4,I'm respected by strangers and told to tell mum that they are all sorry for our loss. It gets a bit annoying but at least people are kind enough to say that.

Every night I have a dream that I you were alive and we went to the beach and we made mummy a special necklace. I wait for you to arrive at our doorstep like nothing ever happened, but every morning I'm devastated when you don't. When I realize your never going to come back, ever no matter how long we wait for you to return to us.

I feel like I already knew you,I feel like I have always known you. Dad I miss you so much, just as much as mum. I know your always watching over the both of us,every minute, every second of everyday.

Love from your son Kai Finnick Odair
