She set her suitcase in the corner of the hotel room and looked around. The room was beautiful - she rarely stayed at such nice hotels, but she decided to splurge for this one trip.
"Wow, nice room," he commented from behind her.
"Yeah, nicer than on the website," she remarked and turned around to smile at him. He took her coat and hung it up in the closet by the entrance to the room.
"Woah, I'm tired," she said, and let out a yawn.
"You've had a long day. Want me to go?"
"Go?"
"Yeah, so you can rest."
"Don't go. I want you to..."
"You want me to stay?"
"Yeah," she said quietly, and looked into his green eyes. He looked back at her and then looked away.
"Okay," he said, trying to sound as confident as possible. She smiled and his heart felt full. He didn't know how he got into this, but he knew he couldn't resist her.
She sat on the bed, and he sat next to her. He wrapped his arm around her, and she automatically moved in. She fit. It was like she was meant to be there.
They sat there together, until her head began to fall back onto his shoulder and she let out another yawn. She buried her face in his shoulder, and he held her tightly. He felt a fierce desire to protect her. "You okay?" he asked, quietly.
"Hmm.. tired," she whispered.
"Want to sleep?"
"No."
"Come on, let's lie down," he said gently, and moved them back to the top of the bed. Her eyes stared into his as her head hit the pillow. He raised his hand to move the curls that had fallen in front of her eyes and his hand rested on hers. They laid on their sides, facing each other. She held his hand tightly and he squeezed back. He couldn't help himself. He leaned in and kissed her cheek. He wanted to be closer to her, even though he knew he couldn't, that he shouldn't.
"Edward," she whispered.
"Yes?"
"I could fall for you," she said, her tone shaky, barely above a whisper. She kissed his hand, and sighed.
"You're going to get us in trouble," he resisted, but hardly.
"No, I won't," she said, but they both knew what was happening. Feelings crashing, turning from friends to more. He leaned in, closed his eyes, and his lips met hers. They felt the rush running up and down their bodies.
"Oh god," he said, and his face broke into a smile.
"It's there, isn't it? That connection."
"It is."
"I have to be honest with you."
"Okay..."
"I feel like... if I don't talk to you every day, it feels wrong. If I don't hear your voice, I feel empty. You make me trip over my words, lose my train of thought, I just need you. I like you, a lot. Too much, probably."
"Woah..."
"I know. I just... I wanted you to know. If I don't talk to you.. I just... I miss you."
"I know how you feel. I miss you too if I don't get to talk to you. I know I shouldn't, but I do."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Edward..."
"Bella..." he trailed off, and moved in for another kiss. Intense, deep, and one that, without a doubt, would change everything.
