Rain. Remus was always fascinated by the rain. It was always so cold, and it flew from the sky as if it had a purpose. Whenever it rained, Remus was always found down on the grounds, soaking up every bit of moisture he could. Today was no exception. He had raced downstairs, forgetting his shoes in his excitement. The fact that it was half past two in the morning, and minus three degreees was irrelevant. He shot outside like a bullet, giggling as the water hit his hair in an almost playful manner. He spun in circles, arms open wide. He was free and happy. He also thought he was alone, but taht proved to be wrong.
"Remus! What are you doing!" Sirius, Remus' best friend stood at the doorway holding an umbrella. He stormed over to Remus, and thrust the umbrella into his hand. "What do you think you're doing?" Remus didn't reply for a few seconds, but when he did, Sirius mentally cursed himself.
"Enjoying myself. I've been so stressed lately. This is my me time." He turned slightly to smile softly at Sirius. This caused Sirius' breath to hitch uncomfortably. Remus turned back. "I just love the rain, don't you? Its so refreshing. It washes away all the bad things in life, and just leaves the good things. Its so cool, and you can hardly catch it. When you try, it escapes through your fingers. The only way you can is to trap it. But I bet it doesn't like that. It wants to be free."
Sirius was bemused by all of this. He knew Remus was deep and intelectual, but to personafy the rain at midnight? He had to give it to him; he was special. However, he already knew that. He knew Remus was the most speacial thing to ever apear to this world. The world was so lucky to have him, and it mistreated him. It tortured him. Sirius wanted to help him, to make all the pain go away. It was when Sirius realised this that he realised that he loved Remus, and probably had for a while. It was not a bad realisation.
His epiphany was interrupted by the person of his thought. Remus had dropped the umbrella, and was walking away from Sirius with a small smile playing on his lips.
"When I think of rain this way, I automatically think of you. You wash away all bad things in my life, and leave all good things. You're cool and refreshing. But I also think about how you can't be caught. By anyone. No matter how hard we wish." Remus turned to him, tears mingling with the rain on his face. Sirius crossed the distance between them in a matter of seconds. He took Remus' face in his hands, and brushed a thumb over his cheeks.
"Sometimes you just need to know how to catch me." And with those words, he lowered his mouth onto Remus' softly and in great care. His heart clenched when he felt Remus' respond. He parted his lips automatically when he felt Remus' tounge lightly press them. He submitted to Remus willingly, and moaned when Remus explored the roof of his mouth. Their lips moved in harmony, dancing. Remus pulled back gently, and kissed Sirius' nose. They smiled, enjoying the feel of the rain pelting on their backs and faces.
"I'm glad you caught me. I couldn't bare it if you let me get caught by some girl." Remus chuckled, and took Sirius' hands in his own.
"Believe me. I would never let that happen." The coupled grinned, and headed back towards the castle, their hearts lighter and beating in symphony. The forgotten umbrella lay upturned on the ground, collecting the rain in its top. When the pair lay to sleep in Remus' bed, he smiled. The rain could be caught, and it could be tamed. You just had to know how to.
