All in all Sister Evangelina was quite jealous. She'd never admit it out loud but her main qualm about Sister Bernadette leaving the order wasn't that she was turning her back on her vows or that she'd rejected their way of life. No the main issue was that she, Enid Mitchell, was not the nun to soon become Mrs Turner. She'd secretly pined after the good doctor for years, admiring his gentle strength, his passion for his work….those forearms! But he had been married, then widowed and she had already pledged her life to another. So it couldn't be. And that hurt. So she had decided, long ago, to hide these feelings behind scorn and stubbornness. Yes so maybe she wasn't the model nun. But if it got her through the day to serve Him, she didn't think He would mind.
