A/N: This poem was originally posted on my previous account (FandomFanatic15), so if it seems familiar to you, that might be why. More info on that can be found on my profile. All that is left to tell you is that I wrote this poem when a friend gave me the prompt "weather". I wrote most of it before realising that it could also be applied to the Doctor, or as the Daleks like to refer to him, the "Oncoming Storm".

I do not own Doctor Who.

Oncoming Storm

Why do grey days of rain symbolize sadness?

Why do thunder and lightning make people afraid?

I think that rain is simply spectacular,

Bringing life to the earth,

And a scent to the air.

It washes away the dust and neglect of a decaying world,

Making it new and fresh for a while.

Thunder and lightning are just as grand,

But in a very different way.

Rain is calming, it soothes and relaxes.

A storm does quite the opposite,

It fires you up,

Gets you excited,

Makes you feel things.

Maybe that is what people fear.

Perhaps they are afraid of listening to the thunder,

And feeling different inside.

They fear the flash of lightning,

That will set their hearts ablaze,

And make them long for excitement and new things.

So maybe some people should fear the storm.

They aren't ready for the change that it will bring upon them.

Maybe rain makes them sad,

Because they can't bear to see their world change around them.

But I embrace it,

Standing in the eye of the storm,

Watching the change around me, inside me.

I don't bemoan the rain,

I don't fear the oncoming storm.
