Time of Our lives
Seems like we're holding on forever, I gotta let go
Times up, you're pushing me to surrender, tonight
Who knows what happens now whatever? Wherever the wind blows
And I'm here, as long as we're together, alright.
Lets have the time of our lives
My long brown hair swayed around my head as I jumped and danced to the music. I was at a beach party on this gorgeous hot summer night, the sun had set a few hours ago and the music was up full blast. I wasn't alone with my dancing, there was a whole crowd of us dancing and having a good time, and it was like the whole beach had turned into a dance floor. I, luckily, was dancing with my best friend, Lilly. I opened my eyes and watched her dance for a while. Her long blonde hair flicked from side to side as she danced along to the beat with me, her eyes were closed but she had a look of pure enjoyment on her face. We were throwing our hands up in the air and having the time of our lives, like no-one else was around.
Lilly and I had been best friends since I moved here when I was 11. It was instant. As soon as we met something just clicked and it was like we had known each other since we were in the crib. Things from there just progressed, we go closer and closer and soon we were finishing each other's sentences and we knew what the other was thinking and feeling by just looking at each other. Things progressed naturally and to Lilly the obvious next step was something more. As in girlfriends, I was scared shitless, excuse the language, but as I danced, here, tonight with Lilly , holding her hands as we jumped and moved to the song, I knew. It was like she was pushing me to surrender and god I was a willing participator.
I let go of her hands and she opened her eyes and looked at me, questioning if everything was alright. Her confused faced was met with my beaming happy face.
"I think I'm really into you!"
I had to yell a bit over the music but from the look on her face I assume she heard what I had said. She grabbed a hold of my hand and dragged me off the dance floor.
"Lils, where are we going?" I asked but not really caring, as long as I was with her.
She just turned around and smiled. I smiled back, knowing exactly where we were going, to our spot. Now I'd explain the significance of our spot but honestly it's not that interesting.
As we walked down towards our spot Lilly stopped and sat down in the sand. The music could still be heard but we couldn't be seen as I sat down next to Lilly.
"What's up duck?" I asked her
She just turned and smiled at me. "Are you being serious?"
"I am. I say I think I'm really into you but I know I'm really into you. Life is only what you make it Lils. Let's have the time of our lives. I mean what are we waiting for? Let's take the chance, now's all we have."
She just smiled and I can seriously watch her smile forever. So I did it. I leant in and kissed her and damn it was amazing. I would describe it but I'm sure ya'll know what it feels like. Heaven.
We pulled back and she stood up. She offered me her hand and I took it. "Let's have the time of our lives!" she said as she dragged me back towards the dancing students.
We threw our hands up in the air and moved our bodies to the music. We were dreamers and we didn't care if we made it or not. Not at this point in time anyway. We danced and danced and danced. Before we knew it we were the only ones left on the beach. We didn't care though. We were having the time of our lives and we had the time of our lives until all the flames of the bonfires went out. Once the last flame trickled into nothing, Lilly took my hand and intertwined out fingers and led me back up the beach towards her house.
All I could think about was her hand in mine and how we were having the time of our lives. Like I said, life is only what you make it. So make it great. I know I did.
