A/N This is just how I thought the scene should go in 4x20.
My mind is racing.
Emily and Hanna want to wait to tell Aria about Ezra. What am I supposed to do? Do I let her go to class with him? It's lunch time so I could just go tell her myself. No, they're right, I should wait. But if I-no. I'm going to wait. God, I need some air. I glanced down.
Maybe I should change first.
I walk outside wearing the ridiculous clothes Hanna gave me. Who puts ice cream on a shirt?
Where do I go? I want to go home, but I can't just leave Aria with him. I could go back in to the library? No, I can't go back in there. Looking out to the street I see him.
Toby. He's back.
I can't think, suddenly I am running toward him.
"Hey you." He is smiling at me.
I slow to a walk, taking him in. Helmet in his left hand, bag draped over his shoulder. He's wearing the leather jacket I plan on stealing. I notice his hair is longer, and all I can think about is running my fingers through it. Then I realize what I'm wearing.
"These are Hanna's clothes..it's a long story." He has no idea.
Toby is laughing.
"You want to tell me about it while we go for a ride?"
"I-" I should say no, right? I can't leave Aria here. It's would just be for a little while though. I need to shut off my brain for a minute. One ride can't hurt.
Toby takes my hesitation the wrong way.
"Are you still mad at meā¦for taking the money?"
I step forward, I want him to know I am sincere.
"No. No, I was never mad at you."
"Disappointed?" He asks.
I look down. "I was..maybe a little."
"Well, I don't think my mom would have been disappointed. I think she would have wanted me to live my life. Find a way to make it full, share it with the people I love." His tone is light, but honest.
I look up, there is nothing in his eyes but love. I realize that Toby may be the only person I have, he may be the only one that truly loves me. I step forward and kiss him. His lips mold perfectly to mine, like they always have. I know that I have surprised him, but it does not show in the way his hand travels to my hip and pulls me closer. Toby is the first to break the kiss, pulling back to lean his head against mine. I bring my arms up, running my fingers through his hair as they find their place linked behind his neck. His helmet slips to the ground as his arms encircle my waist. I find myself smiling, it feels like I've not smiled in years.
"You're back." I whisper.
Toby kisses me, the kiss is short, but I find the feeling it gives me lingers. I shiver and pull away.
"How about that ride?" I smirk.
He laughs again and takes my hand as he picks up his helmet.
"Let's go."
A small escape from reality will be good. Toby is still my safe place to land.
