I remember tears streaming down your face,
When I said, "I'll never let you go."
When all those shadows almost killed your light.
Wally held Dick's limp body close to him. Tears silently made their way down his red face as he sobbed. He could feel the blood leaving his best frie-brother. It was an ambush. The Shadows ambushed them on their way to the cave. They left as soon as they had done their damage. The damage was deadly. Wally rocked Dick's body back and forth slowly as he mumbled repeatedly.
"It's okay. I'll never let you go. It's going to be okay." Another heart-wrenching sob left him as he heard Dick cough.
I remember you said
"Don't leave me here alone."
But all that's dead and gone and passed
Tonight
He needed to call for help. It was getting dark out and with it still being January the temperatures could get really cold at night. He really needed to get Dick help. Wally slowly lowered Dick down onto a patch of grass by an Oak tree nearby. He was about to get up when a slightly cold hand grabbed his forearm. He looked down at the pale face of Robin, his best friend, and his brother. Tears slowly fell down his face. The image broke Wally's heart.
"Please… don't leave me here alone…" More tears flowed from his inflamed eyes at those words. He nodded and bent back down. Dick was losing too much blood and he was getting cold. As a last resort Wally tried to telepathically call M'gann.
"MEGAN!"
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
It had been two minutes and 37 ½ seconds but Megan had still to answer. Wally watched as Dick's eyes slowly closed. Wally hugged Dick closer to his body. His eyes watched the sun slowly go down. The red, orange, and yellow rays of light flashed on the two people. Dick's breathing was too slow. Wally knew he was going to die. It was too late. Dick had lost at least 2-3 pints of blood. His face was pale, his slow breathing ragged… his brother was dying.
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
"You'll be alright Dick. You're safe now. No one can hurt you now, bro. You're safe." Wally held Dick close. Dick was gone.
Come morning light
By the time the team got there it was too late. They found Wally and Robin propped up against a sturdy Oak tree. Wally was holding Robin to his chest. Wally's eyes were red and puffy. His costume and Robin's costume were covered in dried blood. Out of the two of them, only one was breathing. The sun's rising rays shined brightly on both of them. A ghostly cackle sounded through the wind. Wally smiled in his sleep. His brother was safe.
You and I'll be
Safe and sound
