Disclaimer: The idea of Flannan Isle belongs to some poet whose name I can't remember!! If anyone knows can they please say in the review section, so I can give said poet recognition. Thanks!!!!
The X Files case idea is mine, but the X Files is not (unfortunatly because then I would be RICH!!!)
A/N: This is really short, and I think its really bad, so get your constructive critiscism hats out and on!! Its in Scully's viewpoint. Anyway, on with the report...
X File Case Number 191198/01: Flannan Isle.
We - two sailors and myself - set out for Flannan Isle as soon as we heard that the lighthouse on the island had not been operating the previous night. We received the news from Captain E. Davies, from the ship Sea Witch.
The day was clear and cool, so our journey was smooth and uneventful. As we approached the island we observed three big, black birds. As we drew nearer, they dived into the ocean and disappeared from view.
When we landed we secured the boat and, in single file, ascended the narrow trail that led up to the lighthouse.
The black lighthouse door was sunblistered and stood ajar. On the threshold we paused before pushing open the door. We walked into the main room. The table was spread for a meal, with bread, meat and cheese. A chair was overturned at the head of the table. The feeble chirping of a bird filled the air.
We searched the lighthouse, and finding no signs of human life, seperated and searched the small island.
The history of the island is colourful, to say the least. Many have perished on the rocks, six have died suddenly and unexpectedly, without any apparent reason, and three have gone mad. Recently one keeper committed suicide by jumping from the light.
The conclusion I have reached is that there was a struggle between the three lighthouse keepers, in the fight one of them was killed and the remaining two fled in a boat, taking the body with them and later disposing it in the sea.
Why we found no evidence of a boat being taken puzzles me, but this is the only reasonable explanation I can imagine.
Some believe the three birds we saw were the three lighthouse keepers but this would be scientifically impossible. What I do believe is that the men will never be seen again, certainly not alive.
A/N2: Reading this I realized that if you haven't reda the poem this won't make much sense. Well basically the three birds ARE the lighthouse keepers. If you can read the poem it'll make much more sense if you do.
