Angels We Have Heard On High.
Basically Christmas morning at the bunker. Gideon's first Christmas morning.

Amber woke up early Christmas morning. It was still dark outside and the world was silent. She took a deep breath and smiled, it was Gideon's first Christmas. She slipped out of bed and went to get her son. When she walked over to the crib, she was surprised to find he wasn't there. Slowly, it hit her. Gabe hadn't been in bed either. She did a quick turn to make sure she was seeing and analyzing everything correctly before walking out of the room, running a hand through her hair.

"Gabriel?" She asked, the sound of her bare feet on the cool floor resounded through the bunker.

"Surprise." He said, as she rounded a corner. He gestured towards a Christmas tree. "Put it up myself."

She smiled and rolled her eyes, "Very nice." She didn't really pay the tree much attention; she was more concerned at the fact that Gabriel wasn't holding their son. "Where's the baby?"

Gabriel smirked and pointed to the top of the tree. Gabriel had rigged some sort of contraption to hold the child in place of the star.

"Best tree topper ever, am I right?"

"Gabe!" Amber whined, a mixture of panic and annoyance welling up inside of her. "Get him down right now."

He rolled his eyes, but did as he was told, "I thought it was a good idea…" He mumbled, disappointed.

Amber took Gideon from Gabe and began to rock him gently. After a minute, her slight anger with Gabe dissipated and she shot him a quick smile.

"I guess I'll go find a real tree topper." He huffed disappearing.

Amber looked down at the small child in her arms and her heart filled with love. She reached over and gently rubbed his head before leaning down and kissing his forehead. Gabriel reappeared and placed a picture of himself on the top of a tree.

"I'm an angel. It counts right?" He turned to her, smirking.

She chuckled and shook her head "Good enough for me."

He walked over and stood behind her, looking at the tree. "It's fabulous." He shrugged "There's no denying it."

Amber rolled her eyes at him "Something like that."

Gabriel snaked his arms around her from behind and kissed the back of her head. They stayed there for a moment, their little family silent as they examined the tree. "Merry Christmas." Gabriel whispered in her ear, kissing her hair once more and swaying her from side to side, gently.

"Merry Christmas Gabriel." She returned, turning to kiss his cheek.

At this moment, Gideon started to cry, as if to say "What about me?"

Amber hushed him and began to bounce him, pulling away from Gabe for a moment. She walked over to the tree and picked up one of the small presents underneath, She held it up in front of him with her free hand "Lookie here." She cooed softly "Look what mommy's got."

The baby didn't calm down at first, but eventually, the lights reflecting off the metallic wrapping paper were enough to draw his attention. He reached out with one hand and Amber couldn't help but smile. Gabe walked over and slowly unwrapped the present. Gideon stuck his other hand in his mouth and watched in awe as his dad pulled out a small toy.

Gabe handed it to his son who held it for a moment before giggling and sticking it in his mouth.

Amber shook her head and Gabriel laughed. He leaned over and kissed the side of her head.

"Best Christmas ever." He murmured.

Amber was too busy watching her son to say anything back, but he was right. It was.
