Dog

The rain came down in torrent against her pale face and soaked through her dress down to her very bones where it chilled her and warmed her at the same time. Her heart was beating faster than that of anything on earth and it thumped in her ears loudly. So loudly she could hear nothing else, as she turned once more to look at the large oak doors of the orphanage. One of which seemed never to open, the other creaking open to reveal a horrifying, hulking figure of a man, wearing nothing but a pair of white long john pants with a rope around his neck. Large painful looking marks covered his form and he crawled along on all fours like a dog would. Stray Dog. The creature of nightmares that the rose princess had left messages about on the walls. That she had warned them would come if they refused to do what they were supposed to do. They had disobeyed her, and now he had come for them. The clothes that lie on the ground as a sign of what had happened to the others filled Jennifer with dread as she moved back slightly, as though to halt the impending arrival of the Dog. He seemed pitiful, and she recognized him from somewhere, he had helped her, and suddenly she regretted leaving him. She fell back a few more steps but the decided something.

She had to stand firm.

She had to get help. Her first notion was to run back inside. There would be someone she could seek out for help there. She hoped. Brown eyes filled with determination as she steadied herself as the dog neared her, drawing closer with each breath. 'Steady now Jennifer' She told herself as she tried her best to even her breathing out. 'Now Run!' and she took off, running around the dog and through the still open door where inside the princess waited. Her blue eyes looked at her in shock as the formerly Unfortunate girl ran past the fallen princess and up a flight of stairs. Through as door and into the headmasters room. But it was not as she remembered it.

A large curtain hung in the back of the room as the clicking and beeping of objects foreign to her though she noted that it was similar to that of an airships control room. Hanging in the corner of the room were puppets that bore a resemblance to all the creatures that had attacked her during her strange adventure here. She stepped forward, feeling her heart still pounding in her chest. Despite how brave she might have been she was still afraid. She moved towards the curtain hands shaking and pulled it back.

A large fuzzy dog, her dear friend, stood behind the curtain his paws pushing at controls and a headset that covered his ears. Jennifer looked at the dog in shock and awe and took a few steps back, utterly stunned at what she had discovered. "So you were behind this?!" She kept shaking her head as she felt herself dry heave as her knees gave out. Suddenly the door to the head masters office came open and in stepped the blonde haired princess who she had dethroned for the sake of this Dog. Following behind her was Gregory, seemingly normal, and completely lacking the scars he had during his previous encounter with her. This only seemed to add to her confusion as Wendy took this time to point towards the dog and give a rather haughty look to the confused princess. "See," She began crossing her arms and giving Jennifer a look that was both one of pity and one that said 'see I told you' as she finished her sentence "I told you he was a bad dog."
