Authors Note: I am not the original writer of the Hunger Games… but I wish I was!!!

This is my first fanfic… so be nice but a real review would be great!!!

There's no way District 12 could be gone. He's lying to me… right? He can't be telling me the truth. President Snow can't just wipe out an entire district. But he can. And he has…twice now. There's no way I can even deny that Snow wouldn't blow an entire district to pieces. He has to keep the capitol safe. He doesn't care about us dying of starvation in the districts. He never has. So why start now? He wouldn't have even cared if Peeta and I had died after eating those berries. He just had to keep his clueless little Capitolites happy.

Peeta… Where is he? Snow must be torturing him to find out my whereabouts. Why couldn't the Capitol have captured me? Peeta doesn't deserve this. He hasn't done anything. It's all me. I pulled out the berries. I blew the hole in the arena. I was the one who defied the Capitol, not him. Now he's being punished for what I've done. Now I have to rescue him.

"Gale…" I said timidly.

"Yes?"

"What do we do? We have to save Peeta. It's all my fault! And he didn't—"

"We're already on it Catnip," said Gale cutting me off. "We're doing everything in our power." Gale answered sadly.

"What's the matter Gale? What happened?"

"Nothing, Catnip. You don't need to worry."

"Gale…"

"Just get some rest. You need it. You have been through a lot. See you later, Katniss," he said as he left.

Why is he acting like this? Did all of his family make it to District 13? They had to. Gale would have made sure of it.

I couldn't think of this anymore. All of this sorrow just made me worry more. So I decided to go back to sleep. Pictures of Gale being tortured back in District 12 filled my mind. Only, this time it was different. I was alone. No one saw me as I passed. I was screaming for the peacekeeper to stop but he couldn't here me. I got on my knees and knelt next to Gale. He was on the edge of passing out.

"Oh, Gale!"

He looked up at me and I could feel the pain through his eyes, his beautiful grey eyes. "Katniss…" he whispered. I could see the tears forming in his eyes. As the tears welled up his eyes started changing color. It was as if they were melting… from an ice grey to a watery blue. His hair went from black to a dirty blonde. His skin paled ever so slightly. The scene changed before my eyes. We were no longer in the square in District 12. We were in a cellar with President Snow, commanding the peacekeeper to keep going. To whip him harder, to make him hurt more. I was shouting at them to stop but they couldn't hear me. I was crying Peeta's name but he would no longer acknowledge me. I tried to free Peeta of his chains, but they wouldn't budge. I realized it was no use. Peeta was going to die of blood loss. I stroked his face as he lost consciousness. "Peeta!" I screamed.

I woke with a jolt, tears in my face. Gale was there holding me. "It's alright, Katniss. It was just a dream." I started crying harder realizing these were not the arms I long for.

Review please!
