The stoplights, reflectors, and driving signs shine effortless streaks onto the freshly rained on pavement;

Light hits it into the road with unimaginable depth, like sunlight into the ocean.

And the same causes of light hit in such a way,

Blending with the droplets, speckled all over the windshield,

Put fireworks a mere foot away from my eyes that just roll away into nonexistence on the road.

And the windshield wipers put me back into reality every few moments or so,

Over and over until I pull into the driveway.

When I swing open the door and lean out,

I take a deep breath of the fresh, pleasant atmosphere; a whisper of fresh air…

And as I walk through the wet, every accidental splash in a puddle makes me feel like a kid again,

Or not so accidental…

I walk in the house and look out the window, a flashback of my experience;

This is why I love the rain.
