A/N Due to extreme out of character-ness this is being restarted. Enjoy. This is at Feinster. POV is gonna switch quite a lot in the first chapter, but bear with us. Oh, and pardon any mistake we may have made in the parts with the ships.

Epilogue: Ships on the Horizon

"Sir! You need to look at this!" the soldier called from his spot atop the ramparts. Jormundur took the eyeglass from the young sentry. He faced towards the ocean, peering into the cylindrical contraption. "Ships." He said quietly, handing the eyeglass back to its owner. "Rouse my lady! Sound the call to arms!" he snapped, dashing for the stairs. "Ships on the horizon! To arms!" he roared as drums began to sound.

Arya's eyes snapped open. She could hear humans dashing about, yelling at the top of their lungs amidst the pounding of war drums. She vaulted out of her cot, knocking it over as she recognized the call to arms. She hastened to strap on her armor and weapons. The elf yanked back her tent flap and sprinted across the courtyard, her unfastened hair swirling about as she dodged people and horses rushing about like a disturbed anthill.

Eragon, something's happening, Saphira said. "Shmrrfiggin?" he inquired, turning over and resuming his slumber. ERAGON! The dragon thundered across their mental link. He yelped as he tried to jump out of his cot, got tangled and fell face flat on the ground. "What?" he snarled, trying to unwind his legs from the blanket. Get your armor. They're sounding the call to arms. He shed the blanket at last, scrambling for the chest.

Nasuada took the spyglass from Jormundur. "Ships, you say? Do we know if they're friendly?" The commander shook his head and opened his mouth to reply, but Arya interrupted. "May I see the glass?" she asked sharply, her eyebrows slightly furrowed. Nasuada complied, and Arya squinted out over the waters glistening in the early dawn. She telescoped the spyglass with a decisive snap. "Those are elven ships," she said matter-of-factly. "I don't think they mean us any harm, but be wary. They shall be here in about three hours, if my knowledge of sea travel serves me correctly." She turned and walked away with her usual air of mystery.

A/N: This was a really short chapter, but it was only intended to set the scene and see if anyone was interested.
