Summary: Inuyasha laments on a request.
When I said I wanted you to give me your heart and prove your love, I in no way meant this.
I thought that maybe you would quit grabbing behinds, hunt down dinner for a change or hell maybe even just a surprise blow job for no reason. I thought many things but never, never this. You stupid crazy wonderful and now dying fool you.
We had just taken down this gruesome large toothed demon. We were all standing in a circle talking about the foul stench it left behind and discussing if we thought the villagers were really going to pay us the offered reward when you glanced over your shoulder then stepped behind me in one swift motion.
You make an odd sound, then out of the blue you say, "Forgive me lady Sango but it is Inuyasha I love."
We all stop in mid sentence, Shippou's mouth drops open and all eyes, except for mine because you are behind me, are on you. We have talked about telling them and doing it soon but even I had planned to do it with more grace than that. I step forward so I can turn and face you when your hands tighten so hard on my upper arms it is even uncomfortable for me.
However as quick as your grip tightened it went slack and that's when the fog in my head cleared and the smell of your blood crashed into my senses.
In that same instant, you are falling and I move to catch you before you hit the ground.
What I see when I am finally facing you rips my heart out and I hear my own voice let out a weak, "No."
There protruding out of your back is one of the teeth from the fallen demon. The tip barely peeking out the front of your robes and even I know the thing has gone through your heart. At its widest point that tooth is as big as my forearm and even as I look into your pain filled yes and whisper it will be ok I know it won't be.
I sink to my knees with you pulled against me sobbing quietly and asking you why you did this, when I could have possibly survived this type of wound. Your hand weakly clenches in my haori as you use your waning strength to lift your head, look into my eyes and say, "Didn't want…hurt…love you."
Then just like that, the light leaves your eyes, your body goes limp and you are gone.
I got exactly what I asked for …and I've never hated a gift more.
