Jack was nervous as he made his way over to Aly. They had only known each other for a few months, but Jack already had a crush on her.
He and the other select were vacationing in France, and currently they were eating lunch outside a small church.
Jack tried not to blush as Aly looked up at him and smiled, but the way the light from the stained glass window hit her hair caused her to appear even more stunning than she usually did.
Her eyes sparkled as she finished the last of her sandwich. Jack gulped nervously.
"Hey, Aly. Uh… can I sit here?" He asked, motioning to a spot next to her on the grass.
She nodded, her mouth still full. Jack thought her cheeks looked redder than normal, but it was probably just the window's reflection on her face.
Aly shifted slightly closer to Jack, and he realized he could see every freckle on her nose, and count her eyelashes if he wanted.
Then Jack saw something out of the corner of his eye, but before he could turn it hit him in the side of the head and knocked him over onto the grass.
"Nice aim, Cass." He heard Marco snort a few feet away.
Suddenly Cass's face loomed above him, looking down in a mix of concern and horror.
"I'm so sorry Jack; I didn't mean to hit you! Marco was just showing me how to throw the basketball—WAIT, did I give you a concussion?!" Cass's face was now stricken with fear. "Oh no, I'm so sorry! I'm sure Torquin can do something to help, maybe he has medical training? I can't believe I did that." Cass put his head in his hands in shame.
"I'm fine." Jack managed, sitting up.
Aly pushed Cass aside gently and held three fingers up in front of Jack's face.
"How many fingers is this?" She asked him.
"Uh, three." Jack replied.
"And now?" Aly asked again, holding up six fingers.
"Six?" Jack said.
Aly lowered her fingers and looked at Cass.
"He's fine, but grab the basketball and go with Marco to find Torquin and Nirvana and tell them just in case."
Cass nodded solemnly and rushed off.
"I feel fine Aly; he doesn't need to tell anyone. It was only a basketball." Jack complained.
Aly didn't reply. Her head was turned towards Cass. She watched as he and Marco ran down the sidewalk until the church blocked them from view, then she turned to Jack with a cheeky smile on her face.
Aly leaned closer to him, putting her hand on the ground next to Jack's knee. Jack's face got bright.
"Aly, what—"
Before he could finish his sentence, Aly had pressed her lips against his.
Jack's eyelids fluttered closed as he became immune to the world around him. He felt awkward not knowing where to put his hands, but all of his thoughts soon changed to Aly and he realized that it didn't really matter as long as he was with her.
Aly gently broke off the kiss and brushed her pink hair out of her face in a way that made Jack sigh contentedly.
He inhaled a breath of Aly's summer breeze perfume. This was probably the best day of his life, what with the beautiful location, nice weather, and Aly of course.
Aly smirked at him, and Jack felt the blood rush to his face again.
"I knew you were fine." She said.
Jack giggled nervously, still in awe of what had just happened.
"I was just playing along." Jack said as nonchalantly as he could. "I knew what you were doing."
Aly gently punched him in the shoulder.
"Liar."
Then she leaned in close to his face and Jack bridged the gap between them with his lips.
He closed his eyes as a cool breeze washed over them. He couldn't have dreamed up a better first kiss.
