Different aspect from my other GMD one-shot I wrote last year, Goodnight Fidget and Romantic Dates. Enjoy!
The night of the toymaker's abduction, Fidget grew wary and climbed up the faucet above the barrel to take a snooze for a few hours from all the hard work.
The little bat started to dream about something different. Alas, it started out a little sad, but minutes later, it started to become happy. What if he interacted with Flaversham differently? Without Ratigan to pester him, Fidget walked down the streets by himself to make a friend. "I hope this goes well," he sighed to himself. His dismal mood broke when he heard a couple of happy voices. It was a little girl and her father celebrating her birthday. If he remembered correctly, the girl's name was Olivia and his acute hearing was articulate. Fidget knocked the door quietly.
Olivia and her father huddled each other and shook, wondering who it was. "Who is it, Daddy?" she asked.
"I don't know, but we'll see when I get the door opened," Mr. Flaversham answered, "Stay close to me." His daughter walked behind him and he opened to door to a bat. He looked very shy.
"Hi," he said shyly, "May I come in and make a new friend?"
Mr. Flaversham considered this. The bat looked like something was bothering him and he didn't wish to hurt him and his daughter.
"I don't want to hurt you or your daughter."
"Alright. Come in."
Once inside, the bat closed the door behind him.
"You know you're not invited, right?" Mr. Flaversham asked.
Fidget nodded.
"Hi, what's your name, Mr. Bat?" Olivia asked.
"Fidget," the bat replied.
"My name's Flaversham, Olivia Flaversham," Olivia said. She booped him on the nose, making him giggle and he booped her in return. "Thanks, Olivia," he laughed, very touched by her friendly pokes. She even poked him in the stomach and Fidget also found this funny and did it right back and she uttered a chuckle. Mr. Flaversham, who had always liked seeing his daughter happy, decided to take admiration for Fidget's happiness.
"Olivia, can I call you Livy?" Fidget asked curiously.
"Sure, Fidget," Olivia replied, "I don't mind."
At last, he found a friend and hope. Then he made more with the Flavershams' help. So they went to Baker Street to expand his horizons to search for more friends. In Basil's house, Fidget told many jokes and each friend he made found them silly, so they and the joker laughed together.
At the end of the day, Fidget sat on Basil's chair after all the excitement. His relaxation was cut short when Olivia tickled his belly and his nose.
…
"FIDGET!" Fidget's boss, Ratigan yelled to get him awake.
Fidget tumbled down, realizing that unfortunately, his dreams of hope had come to an end.
Once Fidget recovered, Ratigan handed him the list to have him look at it before he left to get the supplies to steal for the robot queen.
Fidget had done just that until a shrill voice demanded him to go.
Well, at least I finished off my dream like I wanted, Fidget thought, I hope to get out of this hole as soon as possible!
The End
Author's note: Don't worry, you'll see more of Fidget in my other one-shot that takes after his fall in the Thames (the one a guest reviewer requested), After the Thames.
