No matter what he did, Gilligan couldn't deny the fact that the effects that Kincaid had on him wouldn't be going away anytime soon. The nightmares wouldn't stop and he had woken up screaming more times than he had slept through the night, waking the Skipper up nearly every night since. The Skipper had tried to tell Gilligan that it was fine and he wasn't mad at Gilligan for it, but he couldn't help but feel bad. Gilligan knew that he needed to talk about things but he couldn't. How was he going to do that when he didn't want to think about what had happened? Honestly, he couldn't stand being so scared. Even more, he couldn't stand the thought that he was surely waking everyone else up. With how much they all had to do, sleep was important and he didn't want to be the reason why everyone else wasn't getting enough sleep.

Gilligan hadn't spoken more than what was necessary in days, always scared that Kincaid would come back and, if he did, he would find him again. Although he didn't want to have the others about him, Gilligan could tell that they could see the fear in his eyes. There wasn't much that Gilligan could do to help around the island as he had gotten hurt but he was still trying to do as much as he could, Mary Ann being the most common for him to help. Although Gilligan wasn't talking too much, he wasn't stopping her from sharing how her day had been or what was on her mind. If it made her feel better to talk, then he would let it her. Honestly, he liked hearing her talk and he found that it was a good distraction for him.

One day, when Gilligan was helping Mary Ann cook, Gilligan spoke up, feeling bad that he wasn't talking to her. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I haven't been talking," Gilligan told her, looking away from her. There were dark circles under Gilligan's blue eyes, further proof of his lack of sleep. Then again, even without them, any of the castaways would have been able to tell that he wasn't sleeping. After all, they had heard the screams that had occurred when Gilligan woke up after a nightmare.

"You don't need to apologize. I'm not mad at you, okay?" Mary Ann asks, turning to face him. Her gaze was gentle, more so than he thought he deserved after all of this. In his mind, he messed up another rescue and had been waking them all up in the middle of the night recently. Gilligan almost couldn't help but wonder why she thought he deserved gentleness. It wasn't like he was going to blame her for being mad at him, especially with how many times he had messed up a rescue. Mary Ann had seen him almost begin to argue against this, but shook her head and smiled sadly at him. "We're all just worried. None of us are mad at you, okay? We're not going to let you get hurt again."

Gilligan smiled just a bit at Marry Ann, hoping it would reassure her, but wasn't sure if it was actually going to work. "What if he finds me again? What if he comes back and hears me talking?" Gilligan asked her, closing his eyes tightly soon afterward. If he were being honest, he didn't know what to think about this. Gilligan wanted to say just how scared he had been when he was being hunted by Kincaid, but wasn't sure how. "I don't want to go through that again. It was scary." Gilligan sighed to himself not long later, opening his eyes, but not looking at Mary Ann.

A couple moments later, Mary Ann approached Gilligan and took his hands gently, offering him a small smile. "I don't want you to have to go through that again. I'm sure the others would agree with me," Mary Ann told him, noticing the bags under Gilligan's eyes. Hesitantly, he nodded slightly at her, the fear still showing in his eyes. Although she knew that there wasn't much that she could do about this, she wanted to be able to do something to help him. In all honesty, she didn't know what would work. "If Kincaid comes back, there's six of us to make sure he doesn't hurt you."

When Gilligan meets Mary Ann's eyes, some of the fear in his eyes had disappeared but it wasn't completely gone. "Yeah. Okay," Gilligan said, his voice quiet. Gilligan managed to smile a bit at her, taking a step toward her but not saying anything immediately. Honestly, he wanted to think that Kincaid wouldn't come back, but wasn't too sure about that.

Mary Ann smiled back at Gilligan not long later, nodding. Mary Ann kept a small, reassuring smile on her face as she didn't want to make things worse for Gilligan. Honestly, she was happy to know that she could at least attempt to help him out now, something she wasn't too sure of beforehand. "I want to help you."

It was then that Gilligan stepped into a hug, closing his eyes tightly as he leaned his head on her shoulder. Mary Ann couldn't help the grin on her face as he did this, immediately running a hand through his hair. That was how the pair were found by the Skipper a couple moments later. Skipper couldn't help but smile at the sight, quietly setting the food that had been cooking on the table so he wouldn't bother either one of them. After all, Mary Ann was had been easy to talk to and wasn't surprised that Gilligan found it easy to talk to. If he were being honest, Skipper was hoping that talking to Mary Ann would be able to help Gilligan, even if it may not happen very quickly.
