"I have a surprise for you!" Roger announced to no one in particular, although he was sitting in a room full of his friends. He pulled his guitar out of its case, while everyone watched him, trying to figure out what was going on.

"My birthday's not for another month, Roger, you don't have to play for me today," Maureen said with a grin. Roger picked up a pillow from the couch next to him and flung it at Maureen as hard as he possibly could. She caught it with a giggle, just before it hit her in the stomach. "Jeez, Roger! Sorry. Who's the surprise for?"

Roger looked at all of his friends as though they had lost their minds. "It's for Mimi!"

Mimi walked into the tiny living room from the kitchen and looked at all of them questioningly. "What was that about Mimi?" Roger took her by the arm and led her to a chair, which made her smile. "Roger?"

Roger picked up his guitar again and smiled. "Listen," he said. He began to strum his guitar gently, forming the notes and chords into a beautiful, soft melody. He fell so deeply into his music that he didn't notice the sudden quiet that had fallen over all of his friends. Roger finished his song, and looked around at his friends. They all seemed mesmerized.

"Wow," Maureen whispered. Her sentiments were echoed by Joanne, Collins, and Mark almost simultaneously.

Roger smiled, and looked at each of his friends individually. They were all smiling, obviously impressed by his song. His eyes finally settled on Mimi. Her face was streaked with tears, but when she locked eyes with Roger, a huge grin spread across her pretty face, lighting up her eyes. "I was hoping you would help me with the lyrics," Roger told Mimi.

"IT DOESN'T NEED ANY LYRICS!" Mimi, Maureen, Joanne, Collins, and Mark all shouted.

Roger grinned. "Okay, I'll take your word for it," he said.

"Did you record this on tape, like you did with your other songs?" Mimi asked, getting an idea.

"I absolutely did. It's actually the first one on my new tape. Why?" Roger asked, becoming suspicious. He knew that look, Mimi had some idea brewing. "I'm not sending it into any record companies, if that's what you're going to say," he grumbled.

Mimi smiled. "Mind reading is obviously not one of your strong points, babe," she said. "I was going to say that I want your song to be our dance at the wedding."

"You... you do?" Roger asked, not sure he was hearing. Mimi nodded, and Roger grinned. He took her in his arms, and planted a kiss on her forehead. "You got it."

The quiet living room suddenly erupted in a flurry of excitement. "One more week, can you believe it?" Collins asked.

Maureen sat up from where she had been resting on Joanne's shoulder. "I know! Are you guys excited?" she asked, looking up at Roger and Mimi.

Of course they are," replied Joanne with a laugh. Roger and Mimi nodded their agreements.
