"Hey, Roxas--"
"No," Roxas cut him off, paging through his magazine.
Axel crumpled to the ground dramatically, clutching at his chest. "You shoot me down so easily, baby. If I had a heart, this would be the sound of it breaking: ksht kshshhht crunch kshtkktk--!"
"You've done something, or are about to do something, and I'm too tired to be an accomplice today." Roxas made a face. "And did you just call me 'baby'?"
"No! And by that I mean 'yes.' Aww, why are you so suspicious?" Axel rest his head on Roxas' shoulder, eyelashes fluttering innocently. "Would I lead you into harm?"
"Yes. And by that I mean 'yes.' What did you do this time?"
"Dusks stole Demyx's sitar and are playing keepaway. Thought you might want to watch."
Roxas cocked his head to the side ponderously. "...hmm, sure."
--
"To the right! To the right! He's wide open!"
"C'MON I JUST WANT TO PRACTICE--"
"See if you can get in an over-the-head pass there! Aww, rock!"
"C'MON SERIOUSLY I JUST WANNA PRACTICE YOU BIG JERKS--"
"Have a sense of humor!" Axel crowed, kicking up his feet and leaning back on his lawn chair. "Consider this an initiation thing."
Demyx made a clawing leap for his sitar, missed, and landed hard on his front with a wheeze. "I've been in longer than Roxas, and I don't see him getting teased by Dusks!"
"True, but he's banging his superior." Axel pinched Roxas' cheek, and earned himself a slap in return.
"EIGHT! THIRTEEN!" a booming voice roared from the depths of the Castle That Never Was.
"I knew you did something," Roxas hissed, hauling Axel up to his feet.
"I thought putting Jell-O in the boss' shampoo was too brilliant a plan to be merely called 'something," Axel explained, fluffing his hair. "Where'd our initiate-ee run off to?"
"Rafters," Roxas replied, gesturing up.
"Waaagh..." a voice whimpered from overhead.
"Well, have fun with that!" Axel flung Roxas over one shoulder and dashed off for a proper hiding spot. "Stay loose!"
Demyx gulped, staring down at the long drop. The first few slightly sour notes of "Stairway to Heaven" came from far below, where the Dusks were holding an impromptu concert. Demyx sighed heavily, lay back on a rafter, and tried to remember if any part of Organization Orientation explained how to use dark power to conjure parachutes.
