Alan stood in the midst of the great trees and breathed deeply, clean crisp air filling his lungs as the scent of the forest relaxed him. He gazed at the trees and was happy he was part of environmental groups devoted to preserving old growth forests.
Don stretched his lanky frame after the long car ride, thrilled at being allowed to drive part of the way, even if it wasn't the fun winding mountain roads. He marveled at the rings in the trunk of a fallen Sequoia for a while, then set about scaling the huge tree trunk so he could survey the landscape around him for other places to climb and explore.
Charlie walked up to the bark of one of the trees and traced it with his fingertips, engrossed in the natural patterns he found there. Fractals and Fibonacci raced through his head, only to be replaced with simple wonder at the random beauty in nature all around him.
Margaret opened the trunk and started unpacking lunch from the cooler.
The trees weren't going anywhere, and her family needed to be fed.
