Sea Salt and Sugar

Namine wriggled her barefoot toes deep into the wet sand. The sun was starting to go down. She was dressed in her usual school uniform: a white blouse and blue skirt with intersecting white lines.

In one hand she held a melting, blue Popsicle. Clasping her other slender hand was no other than Roxas Iwatsuki. His blond spikey hair glowed in the dying sunlight. Strands of her own golden hair flew up with a light breeze. She looked up from her feet and turned to him. Her cerulean orbs met with his own cobalt, blue eyes.

He gave her a wide smile, teeth showing and eyes closed, before leaning over to munch on her half eaten Popsicle.

"Roxas!"

"Mmm, yum."

"That is my popsicle!"

She let go of his arm and gave him a playful shove. "You scarfed yours down seconds after you had just bought it! If you were going to steal bites outta mine, you shoud'v-"

She was suddenly cut off when he leaned down to capture her lips with his. She smiled against him until he reached out to snatch her icy treat and pulled away. It was gone within ten seconds.

'What? Sneaky Bastard! So he wants to play like that huh?'

She dashed into the ocean waters while giving him a sly, mischievous smile.

"Hey! Where're you going? You're still mad?" he pouted and gave her puppy dog eyes. He reached out towards her arm so he could pull her into a big bear hug and apologize with kiss *wink wink*. However she had other plans in mind. She swooped down to the aquamarine waters and splashed them into his face.

He stood still for a millisecond, his shirt wet and transparent, before he ran into the water after her. He laughed as he dodged another onslaught of water. The setting sun behind them made the water shimmer and glow with a mixture of clear azure, pink, and orange. Their shrieks of laughter resounded throughout the empty beach.

They kept tossing water at each other. Namine cupped her hands and reached down to the water when Roxas launched himself at her. He caught her by the waist twirled her around in circles. She shrieked and giggled. The sun had already gone down by then. The stars and their twinkles had come out to play two hours ago.

They were drenched and soaked to the bone. They stood there silently as the waves lapped up against their shins. Namine felt happy, safe, and lucky as Roxas held her in his arms. He spun her around and placed his forehead against hers and sighed contently.

She giggled as a slight tint of pink spread across her cheeks. He poked her side and tickled her. She shrieked and laughed. He suddenly stopped and gave her a gentle smile before leaning down to kiss her reddened cheek. He softly began, "Nami.."

"Mhmm?"

"I love you."

She stood on the tip of her toes to press a small peck on his nose before whispering back to him, "I love you too Roxas."

He kissed her again under the white light of the moon before heading home. She couldn't help but think how much she loved how he tasted. She would always love his sea salt and sugar kisses.

What do y'all think? Corny, cliché, right?
