Disclaimer: I do not own the Boktai/Lunar Knights series.

A/N: I know this series is kind of old and everything, but I recently got into it, especially with Lunar Knights, so here's some crack pairing alien-vampire love for ya! I also got some other pairings for later fics, including Ezra X Ursula and Tove X Alexander...

Dumas X Polidori FTW! It makes more sense than you can imagine...or maybe it doesn't.

Also, I am not a chess master, nor will I ever be, so please excuse any misconceptions that I may write....

On the top floor of Dark Castle Auguste...

A heavy, tense silence befell Dumas and Polidori as they both stared intensely at the chess board that laid before them. Neither of them had yet to make a single move. The white cat-like Terrenial, Perrault, hovered beside Dumas's side, his arms crossed and his expression blank. There was complete and total silence all around them. The full moon was shining brightly in the clear night sky overhead.

Finally, Dumas reached out, and placed a finger upon a black rook. He moved it two spaces forward.

"...I see..." Polidori muttered quietly under his breath before taking hold of a white rook on his side, and moved it three spaces along the board.

Dumas scratched his chin, deep in thought, and made another move. A pawn piece entered the battlefield now.

"...Dumas..." Polidori's voice was scratchy and high-pitched, yet elegant and refined at the very same time. He did not abuse his power like so many others, but wielded it with purpose. His round glowing white eyes were devoid of irises, leaving the vampire lord unable to fully read the alien's true emotions from within. This was one of the few reasons why Polidori was the only person Dumas ever considered to be a challenge for him in the world of chess. Dumas glanced upward from the board.

"What is it?"

Polidori took a white knight piece and moved it two spaces in a northwest direction. "I'm bored...why are we playing this ridiculous human game, and at such a time as this? You know that those two boys are within the interior of this castle at this very moment, and they grow stronger with every passing hour...by daybreak, they will be here, and they will be fully prepared to risk it all to destroy you once and for all..."

Dumas smirked. "Hmph...let them come. Those fools will feel the true power of my wrath, and they will regret ever attempting to overthrow me...!!" Still grinning, he moved his pawn again, this time a single space backward.

"I do not understand the way you think sometimes, Dumas. I could easily conjure a bed out of thin air with the simple snap of my fingers! Why waste what may be your final night playing an idiotic board game? You should at least have ONE good memory before your imminent demise at the hands of the two wielders of sunlight and darkness...don't you think so?"

Dumas's cocky attitude quickly became that of annoyance. "Do you really think so lowly of my power?! You of all people should know just how powerful I truly am, you Immortal...! I am the lord of darkness, the Duke!!!"

Polidori chuckled, and replied sweetly, "Oh, you always call me 'you Immortal' whenever I make you angry...I like it..."

A faint blush formed on the vampire's light-blue cheeks. "...I'm just saying, I will NOT fall by their hands! I will not be defeated!!"

The alien man shrugged his large shoulders. "Whatever you say...my Darling Duke Dumas...we'll see, we'll see..."

"L...Let's just continue the game, idiot!" Dumas's blush darkened even further, covering his entire face as he stared back down at the chess board. Polidori chuckled.

Rolling his eyes, Perrault sighed heavily as he thought, 'God, these two are so annoying sometimes...'
