Note: Lyrics are from the song "Baby's on Fire" by Venus in Furs. Yes, I have a DMC poem with this song's title... though it wasn't intentional at the time.

Baby's on fire

Bruce Wayne throws his head back and, with the harsh sound of his own laughter ringing in his hears, ignores Batman's vicious snarl.

Better throw her in the water

Sometimes, if he closes his eyes and concentrates, he can make himself believe that it was all a bad dream and that his parents are still alive and the blackness of Gotham's evil had lightened to a pale gray under Thomas Wayne's careful hands and Martha's tender touch.

Look at her laughing

He never really indulges himself in sexual conduct when it's not absolutely necessary. But when he sees the reporter with the ridiculous glasses, Bruce Wayne knew there would be no helping it. Come to find out, Clark Kent felt the same way.

Like a heifer to the slaughter

Batman sneers at his colleague, Superman.

"Don't you have some other place to be?" Batman doesn't look at the other hero just stares at his city.

"I was visiting one of your Gothamites is all," Superman hovers beside the Batman.

"That's descriptive," Batman frowns - he's not sure why he's been feeling so-

"Why the antagonism tonight, Batman?" Superman asks, as if reading the Bats' mind.

"I'm not sure. Just in a good mood, I suppose."

Superman raises an eyebrow but says nothing else on the subject, just mentally notes the slight quickening of the Batman's heartbeat.
