Katie Bell sat in a chair in front of the Gryffindor fireplace, eyebrow raised skeptically. The reason for her incredulous look stood across from her, or rather leaned, his smirk the epitome of confidence. "Fred Weasley, you have got to be joking! I know George is with Angie at Hogsmeade and you're bored out of your mind, but honestly! There is no WAY McGonagall would stoop that low."

He merely nodded. "Fair point, but you see," He leaned closer to her ear, "that's what she wants you to think. She knows that with her strict no-nonsense attitude no one would ever guess. But she forgot one thing. The Weasley twins never guess." He straightened up, or, at least as straight as he had been before. "If you're so sure she doesn't, you'll have no qualms with checking her office. "

Katie sighed; she'd gotten herself into this one.

Once they got there, she smiled. "There's an easy way to see if you're right. Accio Spellotape!" When nothing came zooming out she smirked at him.

He returned her grin, twice as cocky. "Ah, yes, but she would have made sure no random students looking for Spellotape could find it. So," She sighed, "we manually search."

They searched all over her office, including some places she'd rather not have known about. When Fred insisted that they searched McGonagall's underwear drawer, she had sat up, pointing at him, looking a bit deranged with her blond hair sticking up with static and dust bunnies, "I knew it! You started this just so you could get into McGonagall's unmentionables. This is for some dare from George, right? No, wait, it's because you secretly love her! You're in love with McGonagall!"

Fred, who was used to her outbursts merely looked at her calmly and said, "Katie, you've gone round the twist. Do you really think I would love McGonagall?" His voice got angry, "She bloody Proxy-Connection: keep-aliveCache-Control: max-age=0ves me detention!"

Katie, who was used to Fred responding to her explosions with a veiled, 'Go stuff yourself until you calm down' blinked, her sanity restored by the loss of Fred's. "Geez, I was only joking, there's no need to get so upset."

He looked at her, with seriousness in his eyes for once. "No Katie, there is need to be upset. I can't have you thinking I'm in love with someone else. I'm assuming you know why, because you are one of the smarter people in this year."

She nodded slowly. "I know why." She clapped her hands together briskly, "We can have this lovey-dovey talk about feelings later, we've got to find it! I'm beginning to think I'm right and she doesn't have it."

He smirked, "Are you saying you thought I was right before?"

She glared at him then sighed and fell against a desk dramatically. "Alright Freddy-Betty. Pay up. I win. She doesn't have one." As soon as she hit the desk, it fell apart and revealed what they had been looking for, McGonagall's Giant Spellotape Ball.

Fred looked at her with something close to worship. "Katie, thank Merlin for your dramatic instincts. I love you."

Katie turned a bit pink, but smiled and flipped her hair. "Tell me something I don't know!"
