Ch. 1 The Start of Our Journey

(Hello everyone! This is a pokemon story I never thought I'd make considering I always make pokemon act like humans. This story is heavily influenced by Pokemon Rejuvenation. I, like always, did change the characters and the story itself will be different. HOWEVER~! I am using the very beginning of Rejuvenation as a template to start the story. If you like how it starts, then I highly suggest you download and play Pokemon Rejuvenation! It's free! Episode 10 was recently released for it and the patches will be finished in a couple weeks if there are any problems, which there usually are with every new content released. Oh, and I'd also like to mention I've made three chapters of this ahead of time with the help of my friend Mad Ass Dragon.)

{Ray's Point of View}

I opened my eyes slowly, staring at my ceiling. Today is my fifth birthday. As I groggily kicked off my sheets to get out of bed. My black hair tangled up a bit, but I quickly fixed it with my fingers. My pale skin reflected the light from the sun, shining in from my large bedside window. I looked out, seeing a Taillow fly by. When my feet touched the ground, my movement began. The fresh tasty smell of breakfast made my mouth water. I always loved breakfast, especially when it's my mother's cooking.

I heard my mother call to me, "Ray! Breakfast is ready."

I yipped excitedly, running out of my room and down a flight of stairs. Our house is a little old, but I like it this way. The hard wood flooring and planked walls felt safe, like an impenetrable fortress.

My mother set the table, smiling warmly at me, "Hi hun, are you ready?"

I jumped up and down, "Yes!" I yelled excitedly.

My mother pets my head, "That's good. Your father is in his office, could you go get him for me?"

I smiled at her, "Of course I can mommy!"

I ran off towards my dad's office, seeing him looking at some important papers. He didn't notice me go in for a moment, until I ran over to him.

I gripped his pants, "Daddy, it's time to eat!"

He laughed a bit, "You sure seem excited. Is it because your birthday is tomorrow?"

I stopped my foot, "My birthday is today daddy..."

He did a hearty laugh, petting my head, "Of course it is! I wouldn't forget. Go tell mommy I'll be right there."

I pulled away quickly, "Okay, but don't get mad if I eat all the food."

My father laughed, waving me off. When I got back to our kitchen table, my mother had a grin plastered on her face.

I have to ask, "What is it mommy?"

My mother pointed towards our stairs, "I left you a little present in your room."

I jumped up, "You did!?"

My mother nodded, "Yep!"

I immediately shot towards the stairs, running up it excitedly. When I got into my room, I noticed something strange. Everything shifted for a moment as bells rung in my ears.

I looked around, "What... was that?" I asked aloud.

"Crash!" I jumped deeper into my room, turning towards my door.

It sounded like it came from downstairs, so I slowly crept out of my room. Everything was still, no sounds rang throughout the house. Each step I took, wrecked my body with worry. At the bottom of the stairs laid a shatter plate.

It took all the courage I could muster to reach the bottom step and looked around. A strange woman stood across from me, an Alakazam stood beside her. She has long purple hair, eyes and lipstick on with long eyelashes. Her skin is about my skin tone, maybe a bit lighter. She wore a black dress that reached her knees. I then noticed her eyes changed from purple to blue, along with her hair, except it was a dark blue. I was startled by this sudden change, not to mention she's a stranger in my home.

She sighed disappointedly, "Here we go again."

I looked at her, shivering a bit, "W-who are you?" I stammered.

The woman stared at me for a long time before saying, "You may call me Luna."

I swallowed the lump in my throat, "O-okay, Luna, do you know where my parents are?"

Luna turned away, "They're downstairs, you may not like what you see."

I looked at where my dad's office is, seeing an open door to our basement. I started walking towards it until I heard Luna sigh again.

She said, "No matter what happens, never lose hope Ray. Okay?"

I nodded quickly, "Okay."

I ran towards the open door, going down to our basement. The basement door was a crack open, and I could see light flickering from behind it. As I reached for it, a sense of impending doom washed over me. I pulled my hand back, wondering if I should just run away. Instead of going with my gut feeling, I reached out again, and opened the door.

I was met with the sight of my mother on an altar, dead. Her lifeless body stared toward me as my father stood behind her. He wore what looked like a black priest gown.

Several other people were in the room, praying in black cloaks, as he spoke to them, "My fellow followers, it has finally come! The day we sacrifice the dove to our beloved Arceus! My poor wife has fallen to an evil man... but that man has already paid for his crimes. Now, we must give her body and soul to Arceus, to give her a peaceful afterlife. Arc'Gredto Gverlk Diok! Saba'Dinj Hindk Sei!"

With a flash of light, my mother's body levitated into the air and began to dissipate. When her body was gone, my father stepped forward.

He pointed towards me, "My son, the dove, has come to give himself to Arceus. Please, bring him to me."

I turned around to run, but more cloak wearing people blocked my path. One person grabbed me and forced me to go to my father. My struggles forced them to tie me down on the alter as my father looked down at me.

He said, "Don't worry son, you'll see mommy with Arceus soon."

I shook as much as I could, "No! I don't want this!"

My father looked at his followers, "Today, we sacrifice the dove to our lord."

I screamed out, "No! Please don't do this!"

My father continued, "Join me in the chant everyone!"

I started crying, "I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!"

Dad began to chant with everyone else. I could feel something gripping me, reaching into my soul. The room began to shake with the sound of thunder and lightning.

I screamed out with my last breath, "Someone save me! Please!"

{Rui's Point Of View}

-Many Years Later-

(S.S. Annabelle)

I splashed some water on my face, cleaning soap off it. I grabbed a towel and wiped the water off my face before looking in the mirror. My name is Rui. I'm twelve years old. I'm on my way to Middleton City to get my trainer card and first pokemon. My mother and I had to leave our original region for reasons I'm not entirely knowledgeable about. We just had to leave. Before going on the ship, a doctor inspected me. I'm a slim, white male with short spiky black hair. My eyes are different colors, my left being hazel, and my right being brown. My height is measured to be four feet seven inches.

My mother wasn't in our cruise room, she went out to find a friend. I grew tired of waiting in our room until the party started. Without a care, I went to our door and left our cruise room to look around the ship. I don't know how much a ticket costs, but it must have been expensive. Several other people walked around on the cruise ship. Their happy smiles and hums helped me feel better as our ship's pianist played her piano. The song rang throughout the ship from loud speakers all over the ship. The room we were going to have the party in is closed. In front of it, my mother.

She smiled at me, calling me over, "Rui!"

I ran over to her, "You left me waiting for hours."

My mother laughed, "I know, I'm sorry."

My mother's name is Grace, and she used to be quite an amazing trainer. She still has her pokemon, but she just refuses to battle nowadays. She's a bit tanned now, because of the pool, and has long blue dyed hair. She stands about a foot taller than me with bright green eyes. She wore a pink dress and skirt with white heels and a bow on the top of her hair. She has a white purse that she straps over her right shoulder to carry around.

My mother nudged her head towards the door, "The party is going to start soon but we need the captain. Would you like to meet him with me?"

I smiled brightly, "Yeah!"

My mother held my hand and guided me to the captain's room. He was on the phone with someone, but he hung up when we walked in.

He cried out, "Grace! It's nice to see you."

Grace giggled, "It's nice to see you too. This is my son, Rui."

The captain smiled at me, "Nice to meet you as well."

I nodded, blushing a bit, "Hello."

The captain asked, "How old are you?"

I answered him quickly, "I'm twelve."

He looked surprise, "My, my, they grow so quickly Grace."

Grace shot him a playful glare, "What do you mean by that?"

He laughed, "I meant nothing by it Grace. Calm down."

My mother laughed as well, "I know."

The captain got up, "Ready to start the party?"

We both chimed, "Yes please!"

The captain smiled at that, leading the way back to the locked party room. Me and my mother sometimes say the same thing as the same time. We're extremely close and I'd hate to lose my mother. She's my only family now and has so much she could teach me about pokemon. Why rush going on my journey, especially when the Requiem Region has such a difficult road to the champion. There's 18 badges you need to collect, each one for every type, and an elite 8. On the upside, you don't need to fight all 8 members consecutively. You're allowed to take a break after the first 4. Not only that, but there are some gyms who only battle with double battles. The stronger gym leaders even use mega pokemon. It really does sound like a wonderful journey is ahead of me.

The captain opened the door, "Everyone! It's time to gather for the party!" he yelled.

Everyone cheered and quickly moved to fill the room. There's only a hundred or so people on the ship, so it's not too bad.

My mother guided me to our table and I noticed a strange woman sat across from us. Her Alakazam is out and sat next to her. He stared at me for a moment before looking at the captain.

The woman spoke, "Hello Grace."

My mother replied, "Hello Luna. How are you today?"

Luna bowed a bit, "I am well."

Grace smiled at her, "That's good to hear."

The captain spoke into a microphone, "Hello? Can everyone hear me?"

Everyone said, "Yes."

Some guy said, "No. Wait, can I change my answer?"

The captain smiled, "Greetings everyone. I'm so glad you all were able to make it to this party. As you know, we arrive at our destination tomorrow, so I'd like to thank all of you for being the best."

Just then, the party room's door blew open as three people walked into wearing black robes, "No one make a transgression against Arceus's followers. If thou art stupid enough to do so, we'll blow the fuck out of this ship."

Random guy said, "Well then... that escalated quickly."

My mother glared at them as the captain asked, "What do you want?"

The three of them looked at me and my mom, "We want them to come with us."

My mother yelled, "Luna, get Rui out of here!"

Luna yelled, "Got it!"

One of them screamed, "Don't move!"

I felt my body lighten as I was suddenly teleported away. As I was teleported, I saw one of the robed people press a button followed by a large explosion.

-An Hour Later-

When I came to, I was on the floor of the captain's room. The lights were out, and I could feel the ship shake.

I asked aloud, "What happened?"

I left the captain's room and investigated the hallway. Pieces of the floor and ceilings were broken. I could see water pouring into the ship until a gastrodon plunged the hole with a mudbomb. I hesitantly walked over to the gastrodon. A fellow passenger came into view and saw me.

She yelled, "Hey, you're that kid they wanted!"

I nodded, "Have you seen my mom?"

She said, "Your mother is in the cargo hold trying to stop more water from coming into the ship."

I looked at my feet to see the water is up to my ankles, "Should I go to her?"

The woman shook her head, "The others are trying to get to the lifeboats, go with them."

I nodded, "Okay, which way?"

She pointed down a hall, "That way, you'll hear them long before you see them."

I started running past her, "Thank you!"

I ran down the hall she pointed to, trying to get to the other passengers. That's when I noticed everything shifted as bells rang in my ears. I looked around, wondering what I just heard. As I neared the other passengers, I began to hear chants. That's when the screaming started, and I found myself watching passengers get sacrificed on a yellow pentagram. I couldn't see it very well because of all the bodies on it. I saw a sign that pointed to the cargo hold and decided to take my chances finding my mother. The screaming was cut short, and that's what scared me more. No one was at the cargo hold, except my mother. She was using her Espeon to try and push the water back out.

My mother sighed, "There's just too much damage. At this rate, we'll be completely submerged in an hour."

I called out to her, "Mom!"

Grace turned to look at me, "Rui! You're okay!"

I hugged her tightly, "Mom! They were doing something to the other passengers! I saw and heard them screaming! Then they went quiet! Are they dead!?"

My mother was shocked to hear this, "Oh no... Rui... You need to listen to me."

I wiped my eyes, "What is it?"

My mother said, "Take my pokemon and get to safety. I'll be fine here."

She returned Espeon as I complained, "I can't leave without you!"

Then I heard a voice, "Yeah... neither of you can leave."

I hid behind my mother as a woman suddenly appeared in the room. She gave off a deathly chill while wearing a black maid outfit. Frost visibly came off her skin as she grinned at us with superiority flashing in her eyes.

My mother flinched, "Valorie... what are you doing here?"

Valerie chuckled, "I'm here to do Arceus's work. You know needs to be done."

My mother sent out her pokemon, "You're not taking my son."

Valerie sent out her pokemon, all of them being ice type, "You have no say heathen."

My mother smirked, "Yes, I do. After all, I called back up."

Valerie flinched, "You called what?"

Just then, a Latios flew through the wall of the cargo bay and picked me up in its arms. I felt like everything was in slow motion as I stretched out my hand towards my mom. She looked so sad, mouthing something to me, but I couldn't quite catch it. A trainer is riding the Latios, but I couldn't see them.

-30 Minutes Later-

(Middleton City)

The Latios dropped me and its trainer off before being recalled. It was raining, and we stood on the port my cruise would have stopped at. I stared at my feet, crying silently as I began to wonder what I should do.

Then a hand gripped my shoulder as a gentle voice said, "I'm sorry about your mother, but you're safe now."

I looked at the person who saved me and saw it was a woman with short red hair, "Who are you?"

She brushed some of her hair, "My name is Kayla, I'm an elite 8 member that mastered Dragons."

She looked like she's in her early 20's with amber eyes. She wore a tight black jumpsuit that count the curves of her thin body quite well. She had a nice bust and waist as well as a nice smile.

I looked at the sea, "What do I do now? I have no money... no family..."

Kayla grabbed my hand, "I'll get you to the professor, he'll handle things for you."

I nodded, "Okay..."

Kayla led me into the city, helping me get my trainer card approved before showing me around the city. It was quite large, in fact, it has 4 sides. Only the south side is available to new trainers.

Kayla glanced at me periodically as we walked, "I'll have to go after you are brought to the professor. ...Will you... be alright?"

I looked at the large skyscrapers almost like I'm empty of life, "I'll be okay..."

Kayla looked unsure but didn't press the issue. The pokemon lab is in the center of the southern district. It was a large dome type building with solar panels on its roof. Upon entering, I looked at a nearby television set to see a large crowd of people. The new channel is on with a large, 'Breaking News' across the screen. A helicopter is flying above with a camera man filming the cruise ship I was on. Most of it is submerged with smoke rising. There were no life boats and presumably no survivors.

I turned my head forward when I heard, "This is bullshit!"

I looked ahead to see a sixteen-year-old white guy with blonde hair yelling at the professor's assistant. His build is slim, but a bit muscular with his blonde hair being very messy. I doubt he ever combs his hair by the looks of it. He wore simple glasses and has a 'Never Surrender' tattoo on his left forearm. He wore a black tank top, camouflage cargo shorts, and black sandals.

The professor's assist gave him a teasing giggle, "I'm sorry James, you can't."

James slammed his hands on the table, "First off, call me Dragon. Second, I've been trying to get a pokemon for five fucking years! I'm tired of this bullshit!"

The professor's assistant giggled, "Fine, you want a pokemon? You can go in when our other new trainer arrives."

James stood straight, "When will he arrive?"

Kayla cut in, "He's right here."

Kayla gently pushed me forward as James asked, "What makes him so special?"

Kayla shot him a dark glance, "He just lost his mother on that cruise ship. He's lucky I was even able to save him."

James flinched, "O-oh... sorry."

I looked at the professor's assistant and said, "I'd... like to become a trainer please."

The professor's assistant is a woman with long pink hair. She has very tanned skin, measured at a height of about 5 feet 8 inches, and has brown eyes. She's flat chest and extremely skinny, almost like a skeleton in some places.

She smiled at me warmly, "My name is Sarah, what's yours?"

I answered her quickly, "My name is Rui."

Sarah started typing into a keyboard before asking, "Could you stand over here please?"

I quickly shifted to the right a bit and stood in front of a camera. In a flash, my picture is taken and imprinted on a trainer card. My other information is quickly indented into it as well as Sarah verified it.

Sarah handed me my trainer card, "Here you go."

I took it, "Thank you."

James stepped in, "What about my trainer card?"

Sarah sighed, "James, have you ever learned what patience means?"

James gritted his teeth, "Dragon." he corrected, "Also, I've been waiting for years. I think I'm patient enough."

Sarah giggled, rolling her eyes, "Just get in front of the camera."

I stepped out of the way, so James could reach the machine. He took a quick photo, got his information up to date and received his trainer card as well.

Sarah guided us behind her desk, "This way to the professor. He's currently talking to another new trainer as well. In fact, she's from a faraway town."

Kayla waved goodbye, "Good luck Rui."

I waved back, feeling a little sad until James got my attention, "My name is James, but I prefer to be called Dragon. What's your name?"

I looked down nervously, "My name is Rui. It's nice to meet you."

James pat my back, "I'm sorry about what happened to you, but don't worry. You'll be okay."

I nodded, feeling slightly better, "Thank you, do you live here?"

James smiled at me, "Lived here all my life, I assume you're not from this region."

I nodded again, "I'm supposed to be here with my mom... now I'm all alone..."

James sighed, "Don't worry about it, you can hang with me."

I looked at him, "I can?"

James gave me a curt nod, "Of course."

That made me feel better, I wonder what my first pokemon is going to be. I hope it's going to like me and I wonder what traveling around the region will be like... now that my mom isn't here to cheer me on. I hope she survived... but that's just not possible... right?

(That's the end of that. If I'm right, this is probably going to be the first pokemon story I'm doing involving an actual story revolving around getting badges and training. I hope this change is appreciated by my old readers and welcomes in new readers. Please favorite, follow and review to support the story.)
