Disclaimer: Obviously I don't own anything! George Lucas does.

Darth Vader sat silently in his chair looking out over the stars. It was times like this--in the quietness--that he would lose himself in. He could no longer ignore the voices by drowning them in his work. They would scream at him over and over.

"You're a murderer!"

"You killed younglings!"

"You killed your own wife!"

"You betrayed your friends!"

"STOP!"Vader yelled as he force-crushed the monitor across the room.

"We can't stop. You can't stop us. " the voices taunted. "You're a murderer, Anakin Skywalker!"

"That name means nothing to me!" The dark lord yelled.

"Doesn't it?"

"Why haven't you fully turned to the dark side then?"

"What are you holding on to?"

Truthfully, he could not answer. He didn't know why.

"Do you think someone will come to redeem you?"

"You have no one left in the galaxy who cares!"

He slammed his fist on the desk.

"Remorse, Anakin?"

"No. Regret." he muttered.

"You knew what you were doing."

"You knew it all along."

"I know!" A pain in his heart overcame his physical pain for a moment. Yes, he had known. He'd made his decision. That moment in the Jedi council room, he'd sealed his own fate, and there was no turning back.

"Why bother then?"

"Turn yourself over to the Dark side."

"You could be even more powerful."

"Power consumes. Like greed."

"And you were greedy weren't you?"

"Nothing was good enough for you."

Darth Vader stood and walked around the room. The voices faded for the time being. He couldn't give in to them. He needed the part of him that was still Anakin Skywalker. He needed the good memories even though they were always overtaken by the harsh memories.

He loved remembering Padme, but always it would end with his own power crushing her to death.

Obi-Wan was another memory. Their escapades on the far reaching planets. Their bond that they'd shared. But those would end him screaming, "I HATE YOU!" It had severed their bond as though one of them had died. He had.

"See, you have no one, what does it matter?"

"Give in."

"Give in."

"NO!" he yelled.

Suddenly the door swished open. A guard walked in. "Is everything alright, my lord?"

"Yes. Leave me."

"As you wish." the guard clicked his heels and left.

"You can't escape us, Anakin."

"We'll be back."

A/N Review if you liked it. I might keep going if you do.
