I could not help but draw this parallel and I thought Helen was a bit too easy going with Will in the end. I thought she secretly would feel a bit stronger about what happened during Fugue.Don't own it, however all mistakes are mine. Enjoy!
Fugue's Parallel
She meant what she said to him, she could not be more proud of him, he had done marvellously. He was more then she had hoped for when she hired him in general. However that did not mean that it was all she felt about this particular ordeal. So her she was standing on top of the tower, too consumed by her thought to notice anything of the magnificent view.
The clouds were racing trough the sky, looking like a storm could start at any minute, reflecting the way she felt. The wind blowing though her hair, making it fly in all directions. She stared ahead without seeing anything, while trying to temper her anger and swallow her disappointment. Trying to let go of them while thinking about what Will had said to her.
How dare he suggest that she would just try a dangerous medical procedure just for fun? Or out of scientific interest and adventure since she was looking for the thrill of life by creating new ones.
She did not go about life lightly. Did he really think if she though there was any other possibility she could turn to that had a potential of helping and being less risk full she would not try it first? She understood his concerns but he had been unreasonable in his denial of the procedure. Sure it was very much a risk, but as far as she could see the only thing that could work.
Did he not remember that at some point she had been in his position? When her daughter had been turned into a drone. A victim without free will to fight the ones who loved her. As soon as Abby had been taken over and the possibility was there that it had been a planned attack her mind had not been able to miss the similarities and take her over a hundred years back to a period burned into her memory that seemed to have happened last week to her.
She understood that he was out of his mind with worry about Abby but she would have expected him to draw some parallels. With his ability to see detail and connect them to a whole picture she would think that in combination with his professional knowledge this would compare to adding 1 and 1 making 2 out of it. Especially since for him, it did not happen over a hundred years ago.
When she told him to prepare for the worse and he raged to her "What is the point of this place if we cannot save the people we love?" he had noticed. He had seen the pain in her eyes when he dismissed Ashley's case. He had still not seen the parallels later on though. Her struggle to find Ashley and Abby back from somewhere in their brain or body to help them become again who they actually were. He had not seen it, and in his ignorance, hurt and disappointed her.
