Oh, how I wish I could have Sam and Dean for Christmas.
Sam and Dean stood on the porch, both with beer in hand and small smiles gracing their expressions as they looked out over the front yard.
There was a light dusting of snow on the ground, more falling from the sky by the second. A small girl with pigtails and pink jacket spun in circles, arms outstretched as if she were flying. Every once in awhile, she would pause long enough to catch a snowflake on her tongue. Little Abby would then grin at Sam and Dean and resume her twirling.
Inside, the rest of the family moved about happily, leaving the remainders of a feast behind to find more comfortable places around the massive Christmas tree.
The huge gathering had gracefully accepted Sam and Dean into their homes that Christmas Eve as a thank you for saving their youngest daughter from possession.
For the first time in years, the Winchesters had the chance to experience a normal Christmas. Both had already been left with warmth in their chest and longing in their hearts.
"Abby! Come inside! There's hot cocoa!" the mother called, appearing in the doorway.
Abby let out a squeal and raced towards the house, hurtling up the steps in her pink coat and skidded to a halt next to the brothers.
Without a word, she wraped her arms around Sam's legs in a tight hug and then moved to Dean to do the same.
That warmth welled and they are speechless.
Eventually, Abby headed inside, leaving Sam and Dean alone. Words piled inside both of them, words that seem unatural to them and always get stuck inside. Neither broke the silence, but both are able to understand one another without a look.
Suddenly a smile flits across Dean's face.
"I'll give you twenty bucks if you go make a snow angel right now Sammy."
Sam snorts and the intense whirlwind of feelings surrounding them is relieved.
"Jerk," he mumbled affectionately.
"Bitch," is shot back, followed by a brotherly cuff to Sam's shoulder.
After a second of pondering, Sam walked calmly down the steps, sprawled himself on his back in the snow and began to move his arms and legs. When he caught sight of Dean's face, Sam burst out laughing and clambered upright.
Shaking snow off his back, Sam looked up at his brother with a smirk. "You owe me twenty."
