You're My Wonderwall
Craig is staring out into the black swirled night from the passenger seat of Ashley's car. Death Cab is playing in the back round. He mindlessly grabs her hand from the clutch and smiles. Her hands are always warm and soft. Always welcoming. Ashley pulls into an empty parking lot, and pulls the key out of the ignition. She looks at Craig, at his eyes vibrant with happiness.
Craig: So what are we doing here?
Ashley: It's just somewhere to be alone. It's nowhere special. I just wanted to be alone with you.
Ashley gets out of the car and walks toward the edge of the parking lot near a patch of grass and sits. Craig watches her from the car for a moment. He looks at the way she takes her shoes off and rubs her feet against the grass, at the way she traces the lines of the parking lot with her toe, at the way she carelessly sits down on the grass in her jeans. He savors all of this. He wants to remember it forever. Ashley smiles at him and waves him over. He walks over slowly and takes her hands in his. He pulls her up to her feet and wraps his arms around her. She leans forward gracefully and brushes her lips against his. He pushes towards her and they kiss in a passionate and slow manner. He slides his hands down her back. He loves how they fit there perfectly. Ashley slowly pulls away and looks at him. She sits back down on the grass and Craig sits down next to her. He slides his hand over hers, just wanting to touch her in any way.
Ashley: I want to feel like this forever. Happy. I want to feel no pressure and no worries. I want to feel safe. I want to be with you.
Craig: You are with me. Forever and ever. You never leave me, even if you're ten thousand miles away you're with me. You make me so happy Ashley; I can't screw us up again.
They hear a ringing from the car and Craig recognizes it as Ashley's cell phone. Ashley leaves Craig's touch to get it and runs towards the car. Craig gets up following her never taking his eyes off her. He sits on the roof of her car, while Ashley talks on her phone. He looks at her and sees a worried look in her eyes. He hops in the car next to her once again reaching for her hand and listens to Ashley's end of the conversation.
Ashley: Ellie, you have to calm down I can't hear you. Take a deep breath and start over.
Craig hears a loud mumbling coming from Ashley's phone and looks into her eyes for understanding. But he finds no understanding, no calmness, just fear and concern.
Craig: Ashley is everyth…
Ashley: Craig we have to go find Ellie. I'm sorry to do this but something is very wrong.
Craig asks no more questions and sits as Ashley finds her keys and puts them in the ignition. Ashley speaks once again to Ellie, telling her to stay on the phone and stay where she is. The pull out of the parking lot and head down the street towards the party at Jay Hogart's house. As they near the intersection an ambulance speeds in front of them, sirens blaring. They both watch it for a moment.
Ashley: Please don't turn left!
Ashley grabs for Craigs hand as the ambulance turns left and makes it way to the party.
