Title: Awakening
Please review!
Artemis Fowl did not frighten easily. He, unlike other youths his age, was somewhat a master of discipline. He rarely showed his emotions and could control his body into revealing otherwise than what he actually felt.
However, as the morning light streamed through the windows, thus brightening the room and awakening its occupant, you could clearly see the fatigue on the youth's face as he slowly got up and began to stretch methodically, rotating his joints and muscles the way Butler had instructed him.
"Bu--bbbuuut--laah!" was the loud, unfamiliar gurgle that sounded from outside his room. Upon hearing this, Artemis was instantly alert, and, quite uncharacteristically, puzzled. A frown appeared on his face, rippling his forehead.
An even more surprising occurrence deepened the frown, as Artemis heard a very familiar baritone laughing and copying the gurgling sound.
Artemis shook his head, muttering "Things have truly changed..."
He then proceeded to go outside to see what exactly was making his bodyguard coo like an infant.
Opening the door to his room, still a tad groggy with sleep, he heard a high pitched scream and found something alarmingly furry hurtling at him at speeds that would have shamed an Olympian runner.
"Arty!" boomed a deep voice.
Artemis was still even more puzzled. This deep voice could surely not belong to the fur-clad woman who had screamed and was now crushing him in a warm hug. If it did, then what kind of circus did Butler bring over?
Thoroughly puzzled, Artemis rubbed his sleepy eyes and took in the scene before him.
Realization dawned on him as an ache in his heart almost brought tears to his eyes upon seeing his family. Almost. What he did content himself with was a grin and he returned the hugs and smiles of his family.
Miles, who had been the one gurgling at Butler, crawled off his bodyguard's shoulder and towards him as Beckett grinned, groggy from his nap.
There they were.
The Fowls.
Together.
Once again, a family.
