It was Christmas time in Gensokyo, and once again-as she had done every Christmas-Remilia started to plan out the decorations that should be added onto the mansion. After figuring that the maids should tie red and green lights to the mansion, she had a quick meal of tea and cake before calling in Sakuya and Meiling into her room. Sakuya was the first to arrive, and Meiling-who was a bit late-drowsily walked in after.

"Sakuya, do the maids have any preferences for what they want this year?" "Don't worry about it, Mistress. I already have the maids presents bought and wrapped." "Excellent. Now, is there anything the two of you might want?" "Some new knifes would be nice." "I would like a warm blanket and a fluffy pillow.." Meiling sleepily mumbled. Remilia chuckled. "Okay then. Sakuya, please purchase Patcholi some new books. Either that or some new clothes." "Yes Mistress." "Oh! And Sakuya, I thought up some plans for you and the maids to do. It'll make the mansion look more festive." "And what would these plans be?"

"First, tie red and green light to the mansion. Second, get a tree from the forest, place it in the parlor, and decorate it. Then hang stockings in the room-one for each of us. And the baking should not be overlooked! Cake, cookies, and all sorts of festive food should be here to eat on Christmas! Understood?" "Yes Mistress." "But, what about Flandre?" Meiling asked, waking up. "She will be allowed to come out of the basement for the holiday. She will get a stocking, presents, and eat alongside us on that day. But not before." "Okay."

Seven Days Later

Twas finally Christmas Day at the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and everyone was looking forward to dinner and presents. Festive lights were strung up throughout the halls, and the staff wore Santa suits. Remilia, Flandre, and Patcholi wore red dresses and sat in the parlor, trying to guess what they had got each other. "I bet you got me a doll, Sis!" "I'm not telling you." Remilia chuckled. "You'll find out later!" "I hope I got some books.." Patcholi mumbled. "Maybe you did, and maybe you didn't, Pat. We'll find out soon enough." "Dinner is served!" called one of the maids.

Hurriedly, everyone gathered in the dining hall where mounds of delicious duck, roasted ham, potatoes, carrots, and anything else you could image for a Christmas dinner was packed. Everyone gobbled up plate after plate of food until they were all full. "Sakuya, what about the desserts?" "I thought I should save those until we were hungry again, Mistress. Or was I wrong?" "No. That was actually rather insightful of you. Time to open presents!" Sakuya, Patcholi, Meiling, Flandre, and Remilia gathered into the parlor, and their first order of business was to open up their stockings. "A bunny!" Flandre happily cried, waving around the stuffed animal. "A new notebook. Should be useful for spells.." Patcholi noted. "A scarf..and un-sleeping pills?" Meiling wondered. "New knives." Sakuya said, smiling. "A red parasol. It should be nice when it gets really sunny again." With everyone having dumped out their stockings and being satisfied, they then moved on to ripping open the presents that were underneath the tree. Flandre got a brand new blue dress and some books, Meiling got a blanket, Patcholi got a new black hat and silver dress, Sakuya got some rubber knives as a joke, and Remilia got a large pink hat.

"Wow. What nice gifts.." Remilia smiled. "Well, is anyone here hungry for dessert yet?" "No." Everyone else responded. "Hmm..then, how about we just go to bed now and eat them tomorrow?" "That's not a bad plan. After all, it's not like they will spoil easily here." Sakuya commented. With no one against that plan, everyone went to bed. Thus, another Christmas at the Scarlet Devil Mansion passed.
