Hi everyone this is a one shot that I've had on my phone notes for a long time and I thought it was a decent little story. I really hope you like it! Now for a disclaimer!

To Fight Again
We lost. Simple as that. They were too strong and we were too weak. No, I was too weak. I got cocky. I knew we weren't ready but I didn't listen to my better judgment.
We sat in silence that night, around the campfire. I had my face resting against my propped up right knee, and my left leg outstretched. I looked around to all of my pokemon. Defeated, glazed over stares adorned all of their faces. I had failed them. I was supposed to be their leader. Someone they could follow into any situation and vice-versa, yet I failed them.
They were upset with me, or at the least very disappointed. I thought we were stronger than we were. I was wrong, and now here I am paying the price for sending them in when they weren't ready.
I looked down to the pokeball in my hand. I could only imagine how infuriated Gira was with me right now. She never trusted me much even before the Elite Four. I knew I couldn't take her out. She was much too dangerous for the outside world at the moment.
A tear tore its way down my cheek. How could I have not seen this coming? It was my entire fault.
I felt something wrap around me, feathery to the touch. I opened my eyes to see Star had wrapped her wing around my shoulders in an attempt to comfort me.
A hand grasped my shoulder. Dante looked at me with a smile that showed his teeth and gave me a thumb up.
Someone in front of me, Luke, smiled at me also. Though his was more happy-go-lucky as compared to Dante's.
I felt someone lay down next to me on my right. Zane, he gave me wide grin.
Lastly, another had placed their head on my outstretched leg. Ren, who was the most reserved of the bunch, simply gave me a sideways glance and a small grin.
They all believed in me, and I had complete and total faith in them.
"Thanks you guys," I looked at Star, "and gal." She nodded.
I looked back at Dante. He was my first pokemon. As always, there burned a blaze in his eyes that could never be smothered. The blaze had pushed him through every obstacle. This blaze only made him try harder the weaker her got. Except this time it was different. It seemed…brighter, stronger even. He gave off an anxious sort of feel. I could feel this from them all. They all felt the same at that moment. They were not just a team, they were one.
Perhaps it was seeing me so defeated that made them so anxious. Perhaps they were just sore from losing to another team. But I knew what it truly was. It was the drive. The drive to improve. The drive to become stronger. The drive to climb the new mountain that had been placed in front of them, or go straight through it. And all they were waiting for, was for me to stand ready to lead them again.
I smiled. They didn't care about a single loss, and neither did I. A lost battle was just that, a lost battle. There was nothing to do afterwards except prepare for the next.
"Okay everyone, let's get to training."
End
