Burning Alive
The flames were crawling up his sides, yet he felt no pain. The fire that consumed him held no warmth. HE had seen it all before.
It was on Vegtasei when he saw it for the first time. When he emerged into his fathers blood-thirsty world, the flames engulfed him. Instead of heat and death though, these flames held life and power. Then they dissipated in the air. They had done their job.
For the next 30 years, he searched for that power, craving it like a drug. Then on that god-forsaken planet, light-years from earth, he found them again. Through those hungry flames, he found supreme power. That which was his royal birthright, was finally his. One more, the fire faded into the atmosphere. He finally had it, unlimited power. He no longer needed to the fire, he could create his own golden flames. He had his fix, there was no more reason to search.
Until now.
It was Cell that forced him to crave the power, to search for his drug of choice. Once more, he desired power above all else. Nothing would matter until he found it, until he felt the painless red tongues on his skin.
Now, in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, they appeared again. After countless days that held no time, in his sons' presence, he was engulfed once more.
He was burning alive, and he loved it.
This was inspired by the episode where Vegeta and Trunks are in the Hyprebolic Time Chamber training to fight Cell. Trunks saw his father surrounded by fire and tried to save him. However, it was just the raw power that belong to Vegeta. One of my favorite episodes.
The title was inspired by the song 'Lie' by Black Light Burns
