Alright, this is in an AU where Loki doesn't fall off the Bifrost. Also, I own nothing. Otherwise, Loki would be way more appreciated and would be forgiven in Loki: Agent of Asgard. So sad.
Loki never really wanted to rule. Nor had he wanted Mjolnir. But Thor was found unworthy, and then went and got himself killed in the Dark Elf invasion, along with Frigga. Loki was now heir. He took up Thor's duties. He provided for Jane Foster and her daughter. The half-Aesir was beautiful, but had not inherited her father's (supposed) immortality. She would never hold the throne.
Years passed. Odin went into the Odinsleep for the last time, Gungnir beside him. Loki crafted a new scepter, naming it Brotherhood. Thor would have been pleased. He went to war, showing for once that maybe magic wasn't the coward's way. The Warriors Three and Lady Sif respected him, unlike before, where all they had done was laugh. While tempted to do otherwise, he forgave them.
The first and last time he used Mjolnir was against Thanos, fighting with the Avengers. It felt wrong. He felt wrong. The Mad Titan laughed as Loki's final blow destroyed both him and Asgard'Asgard ' greatest weapon. Loki had channeled his power through it, and the hammer shattered under the strain. It also drained Loki down to a drop of magic that was keeping his Aesir form.
When Ragnarok came, the King of Asgard had a choice to make. Asgard's fate lay in his hands. Twice-death had been brought to all Asgard's heroes except two. Loki, who was yet to die, and Thor, who had come back to fight the last battle with all the rest. Loki had a choice to make, two ways to end it all. Kill Thor, and preserve his story forever, or kill himself and end it forever. Closing his eyes, he made his choice. Loki had never been happier.
That went well. I actually copied this from, y'know, actally paper, and made a last-minute decision to cut the ending and leave it at that. If you want to know which path Loki took, shoot me a review or PM and I'll be glad to share it. Home out.
