She could here him in the other room. He was carefully bouncing a ball against the wall. In the same precise spot over and over again.
'today is the day' she told herself for the millionth time. Taking a deep, unnecessary, breath. She walked to the door and stopped. She turned around and started pacing. Unsure. They barely knew each other. She had cursed him. Yet he didn't see her as a monster but as his saving angel. She loved him for that. Edward sighed in the next room as he was forced to listen to her inner insecurities. A moment later he knocked on the door. She let him come in but continued her pacing.
"Rose." his voice was hesitant. She viewed him as her older brother the love between them was brother and sister. "it will work out."
She would be crying if she could instead she settled for stepping into his open arms. He hugged her close for a moment and she wished she had had a bother before. He was there to protect her and comfort her and she needed a lot of that after the incident. "trust him. Let him help."
"what if I do it wrong? What if he hates me?" she spoke two of her biggest fears.
He kissed her forehead. "Rose you are good at everything." as he left she continued her pacing. She was so distracted she didn't hear her brothers murmured words or Emmett's low response.
She missed his footsteps and was startled by his soft knock.
"come in." she stood in the center of the room as he went to sit on the couch she had placed in her room. He patted the cushion next to him. She shook her head and resumed her pacing.
He sat patiently waiting. The concern in his warm red tinted eyes gave her strength.
"My name was Rosalie Hale and I was vain. I had the attention of every male and then some." she paused. "his name was Royce…Royce King. His father owned the bank. Every night we were courting I got a bouquet of red roses.
I thought we were in love I was going to get everything. I was walking home from Vera's when a group of drunks passed me. Royce was with them." she stopped clearly able to picture the night, the smell of alcohol still burned in her nose. Emmett came to stand in front of her. He looked as if he were suffering the pain with her. He wanted desperately to hold her in his arms. Angels shouldn't suffer so much.
"they used me then left me for dead. I wanted to die there in the cold street. I wanted the pain to end."
She looked up at him her eyes begging. He wanted to cry."I wanted to try something." she announced a while later as they stared into each others eyes. "anything." he leaned forward slowly and pressed her lips to his. It was sweet. In this first kiss she felt nothing like Royce's had. Instead of lust and maybe a park of love she got a warm glow of warmth love and concern. Her first kiss with Royce had been passionate were she would always treasure her first with Emmett more. His was long sweet hesitant for her sake not wanting to hurt her. It was then that she knew she was hopelessly in love. The next was deeper and still just as sweet.
"I killed them… all of them." she confessed in a broken whisper. He held her tightly to him vowing that he would erase the pain in her eyes, that he would see her happy again.
Again he took her in his arms and held her closer and he never did let go.
