Hidden Truths 1/1
The last thing she'd expected when she'd heard of Mulder's abduction was to be holding a gun on him. Mulder. Her Mulder, standing there in front of her, absolutely soaked to the skin, and she was holding a gun on him.
"Mulder," She whispered. "Is it you? How did you get here? Am I losing it?" She fired off questions rapidly at him. She didn't really expect an answer, but she got one anyway.
"Yea, I'm me." He answered quietly. His arms opened widely and he smiled. "Miss me?"
Scully looked into his eyes, refusing to be fooled by anyone or anything. She slowly, cautiously lowered her weapon. With one hand she tentatively extended a hand to Mulder. He seized her cool, slender fingers in his own and crushed her to him. His hands rested on her back, and Mulder burrowed under Scully's hair and bury his face in her neck.
"Oh god, Scully I'm so sorry." He kissed the skin beneath his lips. "So, so, so sorry."
Scully inhaled deeply. It had to be Mulder. It looked like him, felt like him, sounded like him, even smelled like him. Tearfully, she allowed her eyes to slip shut and her arms to embrace him.
She didn't care that she was getting soaked. That he was cold and wet. All that mattered to her was that he was in her arms. He was safe. He would be there to see their child grow inside her body, to make love to her, to continue on as her partner and best friend.
Scully drew back, looking up into Mulder's eyes. Assuring herself that she wasn't mistaken. All she saw were the beautiful, expressive hazel irises that belonged to her partner, staring right back at her.
She kissed him roughly, her fears pouring into her kiss. She permitted tears to flow from her eyes down her cheeks, mingling where their lips joined. Mulder tightened his arms around her and squeezed her closer.
When they broke apart, Mulder rested his forehead against Scully's hair. "God you feel so good Scully. I don't know what happened. One minute I was in the woods in Oregon, the next I was waking up a few blocks from here. What happened to me?"
Scully shook her head and kissed him again. "It's not important. What's important is that you're here, and safe, and in my arms."
Mulder nodded. "You're right." He squeezed her tightly again. Scully held onto him for dear life and summoned all her courage.
"Mulder, I have something to tell you." At his confused expression, she took a deep breath and smiled.
It would be their secret for the time being. People would talk about Scully's pregnancy, but the truth would be theirs alone.
End.
How was it? Good? Bad? Ugly? What am I doing wrong or right? I wanna know! CatheyScully@the-pentagon.com .
