Hitsugaya Toshirou sighed and looked at the dark sky. He frowned as he saw the clouds getting darker.
"It's...going to rain..." He remembered a time not too far back when rain was very scary to him. He would always try to find Hinamori, and sleep with his head in his lap. He looked down to see a lone figure by the cherry blossom trees. He smiled slightly as he jumped down to sit down next to the girl.
Hinamori almost jumped out of her skin as Hitsugaya suddenly plopped down next to her. The rain was starting to fall as he looked out at the sky. Hinamori stared for a moment, and continued her stargazing.
"What were you thiniking about, Hinamori?" Hitsugaya asked, even though he already knew the answer. Hinamori's face hid pain as she replied, "You know, the same thing as always...Aizen..."
"Yea..." Hitsugaya sighed. He hated Aizen more than anything, but it wasn't so much the fact that he betrayed Soul Society. It was that he betrayed Hinamori. He saw her out here every night, and sometimes he could hear her crying softly.
The rain started pounding down suddenly. It was not a violent storm, but it was raining heavily. Hitsugaya felt the same fear creeping up his spine as he did when he was a kid. That pain grew from somethign deep inside. Something from his past, when he was alive, maybe? Hitsugaya couldn't even remember that time, but he did remember seeing himself standing over two dead bodies in the rain. And he remembered pain, fear, sadness, longing, but nothing more.
The rain hadn't brough back this image in a long while. But then again, he had rarely felt pain or longing unless he was near Hinamori. Everytime she mentioned Aizen's name, every tear she cried, all the times he had to see her lone figure sitting out here...it made him feel all those same stale emotions. He hated how she could do that to him. He glanced over to see the sadness creeping over Hinamori's face. He started to feel his heart crunching up inside his chest. Hitsugaya winced at the feeling. He looked to see Hinamori still sad and sighed.
"Hitsugaya, what..." Hinamori trailed off, completely shocked, as her childhood friend lay his head in her lap. He closed his eyes. Hitsugaya felt comfort again, he felt...happy.
"Remember when I used to do this when we were kids? Everytime it rained..." Hinamori smiled at the warm memory. She tentaviely stroked Histugaya's hair.
"Yea...I remember, Shoroi-chan."
The two sat there in the rain for quite a long time. Hinamori didn't even realize how long it'd been until she looked down and saw Hitsugaya sleeping silently. His face was so serene. Hinamori leaned over cautiously, making sure he was still resting, before placing a soft kiss on his forehead. She smiled as he furrowed his brows and hid his face deeper into her lap.
"You'll always be first in my heart...Shiroi-chan." Hitsugaya rolled over and looked up at Hinamori, while she blushed, not realizing she'd been heard.
"You too...Momo."
The rain continued to pour the whole night. But that didn't matter to at least two people in Soul Society, because they would keep eachother warm, always.
