It was a rainy, windy, stormy, all around gross day. Garnet and Pearl had gone out on a mission, and left Amethyst in charge of watching Steven and Peridot. Everyone was bored, seeing as Peridot had broken the TV. Again. Steven brought out one of his new card games to entertain them.
"This game is stupid!" Amethyst threw her cards down on the table.
"Amethyst, you're only upset because you're losing." Steven teased, not seeing how truly upset she really was.
"Maybe if the game wasn't so stupid, I wouldn't be losing!"
"The stupidity of the game has no impact on your ability to lose." Peridot said, laying down her next card.
"Whatever. I'm going to take a nap." She marched up the stairs and plopped down on Steven's bed.
Peridot sighed. "Did I say something wrong?" She asked. "Again."
"No, it's not you." Steven said. "She gets like thing sometimes. Especially when it's all rainy like this."
"Do all you Clods- I mean, Crystal Gems, relate your emotions to the atmosphere of this world?"
"No, but some people do. The sun can give us extra energy, I guess? It can make people happier. When the sun is gone and can't give them that extra energy, they can get tired and irritable, and sometimes sad. It's not your fault. Or theirs. It just happens sometimes."
"But it was sunny out when she first got mad at me." Peridot frowned.
"That's because you hurt her feelings."
"But I saved her life! That should make up for my causing her 'feelings' pain."
"Peridot, did you ever say you were sorry?"
"I saved her life!"
"But did you ever say you were sorry?"
"I have shown I am apologetic."
"But have you gone up to her and said "I am sorry" to her face?"
"No…" Peridot tried to subtly look away, and failed.
"Well you should start there. You can act sorry all you want, but in the end you have to admit it to her."
"Didn't you once say actions speak louder than words?!"
"She won't see your actions if she's too busy ignoring you." Steven pointed out. "Come on. Let's play a different game." He cleaned up the cards and laid out a new game.
Later that night….
Steven had gone to bed, and the storm had finally blown over. Amethyst was outside leaning against the railing and overlooking the ocean. Peridot was watching her through the window when Steven's words game back to her. "She won't see your actions if she's too busy ignoring you." So with a newly found courage, she threw the door open, and marched towards Amethyst.
"What." Amethyst turned to look at the tiny gem in front of her.
All that newly found courage vanished. Peridot furrowed her brow, balled up her fists, and overall looked like she was about to explode with anger. She looked down, and whispered, "I'm sorry."
"What?"
"I-" She looked up. "I'm sorry for hurting your feelings. I, I didn't mean to." She finally looked Amethyst in the eye. "I was just…. Surprised. All the other Amethysts I've met, they don't bother with small gems like me. But you, you're small. And you're just as strong. You have the same spirit and passion as any other Amethyst, but you are so different at the same time. You don't see other gems as beneath you. You care. You are about all of them. You are just so -"
Peridot's speech was cut off by Amethyst throwing her lips against her own. Amethyst pulled her closer and kissed her harder. Finally, she pulled back and leaned her forehead against Peri's.
"Thank you Per. I needed that." Amethyst said. She dropped her hand and walked back into the house.
Peridot just stood there. A few minutes passed, and she fell back, a huge smile on her face, and a hand on her gem.
