A/N: With what is happening in the SE Texas, I just felt compelled to write this one short story. Please, please, all of you. Find a charity and help out this area.

Chapter 1

Caleigh looked at a tweet from the Braves organization on her phone as she heard the garage door go up with Zach getting home from the Sunday afternoon game against the Colorado Rockies. She read the tweet.

In a meeting after today's game, the Braves' players and coaches voted to donate $4 million dollars to the relief efforts in Houston through JJWatt 's fund. The Atlanta Braves organization will match that.

Caleigh shook her head at Zach as he came in the door with two beers in his hand. He uncapped the first bottle, handing it Caleigh. "My god babe," is all he could get out, uncapping his beer bottle, shaking his head. "It will take them years to get the infrastructure of that city back in place," he said, shaking his head more, taking a drink of his beer.

"I've been watching the coverage on CNN, rather than the game today. Sorry," she smiled. Caleigh looked at him. "Is that something, with your civil engineering degree you could help with?"

Zach shook his head, taking another sip. "Not without my boots on the ground. And after the water recedes; which could take weeks." Zach shook his head more. "The structural integrity of every building, every home in the flood zone is compromised. It will take them years to get past this."

"Why the JJ Watt's fund?"

Zach smiled. "There's no CEO that is going to make millions in running it. JJ started it out of the goodness of his heart playing pro football in Houston. And pro athletes stick together, no matter what sport we play."

Caleigh smiled at him. "You all expect the other pro sports teams to climb in." Zach pointed at her with a smile, taking another sip.

"And if they up the ante on the Braves' contribution? And by the way, how did you all come up with four million?"

"Babe," Zach smiled at her. "There are twenty five guys on the team. If everyone threw in one hundred thousand, that's two point five million. The rookies can't do that. The veterans like Cream, Freddie and Folty did that to cover for the rookies. Then throw in the coaching staff and the clubhouse support staff? It's not a competition. We just wanted to get the ball rolling."

"In other words," Caleigh smiled. "You don't give a shit; you guys just started the trend." She smiled at Zach. "Good for you guys. What's our contribution?"

"One hundred-fifty thousand," Zach said.

"And how did Jose handle that?"

Zach smiled. "He chewed me a new one." Caleigh raised her eyebrows at him, taking a sip of her own beer. "With your new contract, you couldn't contribute more?"

Caleigh smiled and then shook her head, pointing to CNN on their TV. "I'm sure we'll get more chances."

Zach just shook his head at the film coverage of the devastation. He put his arm around Caleigh as the news network aired another story of a private citizen with a boat going into flooded neighborhoods.

Caleigh rubbed his back. "The Cajun Navy from Louisiana is on their way."

Zach shook his head. "Why does it take a catastrophe of this magnitude to bring our country together and bring out the goodness in us all? That just doesn't equate with the current political climate here."

Caleigh rubbed his back more and smiled at him. "I know; but we're a country that takes care of each other when something like this happens. No matter who we voted for. That's why we're the United States," she smiled, kissing his cheek.

Zach kissed her forehead. "Thanks babe."

A/N: I just had to do this one. I'm devastated by what is happening in Houston. And it's my pitch to all of you readers to find a charity of your choice. And then DONATE.

And please! Don't forget foundations such as ASCPA or the Animal Humane Society. Our furballs are impacted as well.
