Breathe Again

by autumnflame

Annabeth was tired, so tired. She had searched for months on end, a calm façade held in place but frantic underneath the surface. Every lead had turned up as a dead end. So when the visions from Hera had appeared, Annabeth's hopes were high. And were dashed as she realised it was not Percy who was mentioned in her visions.

"What do you want from me? What have you done with him?"

She had screamed at the sky in frustration and anger. The emotions settled and Annabeth had felt better after yelling but it hadn't brought Percy back.

Annabeth was nervous, not that she would have shown it. That would be unbecoming of a daughter of Athena but nevertheless she was worried. There were many what-if, too many for her liking.

'What if Jason turned them in as prisoners to the Romans?'

'What if the Romans believe that we are a threat and they attack?'

And perhaps the most important what-if, 'what if Percy wasn't there?'.

Seeing Percy walking dressed as a praetor, all the questions she had asked herself in her mind disappeared.

Annabeth might not have realised, but as she held Percy in her arms, she could finally begin to breathe again.

~END~

Extra:

Of course it felt even better when she judo-flipped him.
