Hello, fanfic readers, this is my first uploaded fic, and I have to warn you that I have gone very OoC. I just can't seem to get the characters' personalities quite right, but I hope that it's close enough.
Enjoy!
Written on a Friday the thirteenth.
It was Friday the thirteenth. Knock Out probably wouldn't have thought anything of this if he hadn't watched so many human horror movies, but he had. Apparently the humans considered this particular day unlucky, though he couldn't figure out why. But he didn't plan on finding out whether or not their superstitions were true, so he locked himself in his lab.
Breakdown walked down the hall towards Knock Out's lab. But when he tried to open the door, he found that it was locked. 'odd,' he thought before knocking on the door. Knock Out didn't answer. 'Very odd.' He knocked again, a little harder this time. "Knock Out, why's the door locked?" Still no answer, though he did hear something inside, or he thought he did. "Knock Out, open up!" this time he banged on the door hard enough to put a small dent in it. He heard footsteps, but still no answer. "it's Breakdown. You can let me in, right?"
"It's Friday the thirteenth, Breakdown." Knock Out finally answered, his voice muffled by the thick door. "Do you know what that means?"
"No, Knock Out, I don't. Now let me in before I let myself in and you have one less door!" Breakdown was getting impatient waiting for his partner to let him in. He didn't want to stand in the hallway all day.
"Friday the thirteenth is unlucky. If I open this door I'll let in the bad luck."
"Who says it's unlucky? And since when did you believe in luck?"
Knock Out didn't answer.
Breakdown sighed and shook his head. "You've been watching too many horror movies. If you were going to have 'bad luck' you'd have it whether or not you locked yourself in your lab!"
Knock Out hesitated. "Perhaps, but whatever happens to me in here could not be as bad as what could happen to me out there. I know my own lab."
"Just an excuse for not facing the real world." Breakdown laughed, then banged his fist on the door again. "But seriously, let me in or I'll show you what bad luck is!"
Knock Out's whimper was audible even through the thick metal door.
"There's no such thing as 'luck,' but if you're so scared of it, let me in and we'll avoid it together."
The door slowly opened and Knock Out whispered in a voice so low that only he and Breakdown could hear it, "hurry or the bad luck will come in and we'll be stuck in my lab with it." He winked. "And we don't want that, do we?"
