A/n: Number five in my Over-The-Holidays Prompt series (completely unrelated to any others, you realize). The prompt used for this is in italics at beginning.
Innocence
The look on her face when she laid eyes on Desh's broken form said it all. Though she had been involved with the CIA for several years, was an important part of Treadstone, and had gone on many missions herself, she was still just the Logistics girl. She'd never had to kill anyone in her life, likely never been in a situation where she had to help someone kill another either. Probably had never been in the same room as a dead body, let alone one that had been killed seconds ago.
She was shaking, scared and upset. He wanted to say something to comfort her, but what? He hardly knew her and he had killed dozens of people before. He couldn't remember what it was like to see a dead body for the first time or to fight for his life for the first time. For Jason, it was all the time. Everyday, it seemed, someone else ended up dead, another fight to live ensued.
He wished it would stop. He wished Nikki could have kept the innocence which she had somehow held onto up until that point. He wished he had time to say sorry… for everything.
