"Let the World Decide"

Ext. Day. Outside of Jack-in-the-Box

A boy and girl are sitting at a table. The boy across the table is fidgeting out of nervousness. The girl notices and says with concern.

Girl

Are you okay?

Boy

Yeah, I'm fine. Why?

Girl

You seem nervous.

The boy smiled, but there was no spark of happiness. He decided to change the subject.

Boy

Let's go to the mall.

The girl let out a small laugh.

Girl

But you hate the mall. Every time I want to go I have to drag you.

Boy

Yeah, well who knows when I'll go again?

The girl raised an eyebrow, thinking about the last remark.

Int. Day. The Mall Lobby

The boy and the girl just finished shopping so they sat on a bench outside. The boy still looked nervous.

Girl

John, what's wrong?

John looks up at here.

John

I have to tell you something.

Girl

What is it?

John sat silent trying to get the words out.

John

I'm leaving.

The girl didn't understand.

Girl

What do you mean leaving?

John

I'm leaving Xavier's school.

The girl choked back some tears.

Girl

Is it for a little bit?

John

No. For good.

The girl put her head down and started to cry.

John

Jubilee, please don't cry. You can come with me. Magneto will protect us both.

Jubilee

No! I will never join that monster. I'd rather die.

John turned his body toward her and put his hands on her shoulders.

John

I knew you would say that, but you need to listen to me. They'll never accept mutants like us.

Jubilee squirmed out of his hands.

Jubilee

You're wrong! If you're going to run out there and kill people being "Pyro", then I won't be a part of it.

John started to get pissed.

John

This is what I believe, I'm trying to do what's best for the both of us. Instead you mock me?

Jubilee

I'm not mocking you; I'm helping you realize what you're leaving behind. You're saying good-bye to your friends, teammates, and me. I thought you were better than that, John.

John takes out his lighter and starts to play with it, the part that really makes him "Pyro".

Pyro stood up, still looking at Jubilee.

Pyro

This isn't good-bye. When the humans never accept mutants and try to hunt us down, I'll come find you so you can be safe.

Jubilee shot up from her seat looking at him dead in the eye.

Jubilee

That will never happen. They will accept us one day. But mutants like you and your "Brotherhood" need to end your pointless terrorist attacks.

Pyro just stood there acting like she's speaking nonsense.

Jubilee

When there is peace between mutants and humans, I'll come find you.

Pyro

Well let the world decide that.

He then kissed her on the cheek and turned to leave. Pyro smiled as he spoke one last time over his shoulder.

Pyro

Either way, we'll end up together.

And in the next moment he was gone.
