Millennia is forever without you
Everyone knows Apollo is the biggest flirt of all the Olympians. With mortals, demigods, nymphs, dryads, even his sister's hunters. But very few people know why or that he never really gets any further than casual flirting anymore. Hades does but Apollo made him swear not to speak of it again. It's too painful for the sun god.
One day, Apollo is wandering in the woods, plucking his lyre and singing softly when a young dryad slinks out of her tree and smiles prettily at the god who smiles back warmly.
"Hello, Miss. You are a beautiful one, are you not?" The Olympian flirts lazily, causing the dryad to blush deep green.
"Thank you, Apollo the shining." Apollo's smile slips slightly at that but he soon turns it into a smirk. Encouraged, the dryad steps forward to kiss the sun god but he steps back, dropping his lyre and raising his hands.
"Ah, Miss, I'm sorry, I can't… I can't." The dryad frowns and steps back again.
"Sir?"
"I… I can't, I'm sorry." With that, Apollo runs, fleeing through the trees like a hunted stag before vanishing and reappearing in what used to be Troy, in a small meadow full of hyacinths. Sinking to his knees, the Olympian sobs helplessly, cradling one of the blue lilac flowers.
"My love, my dearest Hyacinthus, I miss you, I miss you…" There is a gentle hand laid upon the sun god's shoulder and a deep voice said beside him,
"Apollo?"
"Hades…" The sun god stands, meeting the eyes of the other Olympian. "It's the anniversary," mutters Apollo, in explanation of his tears but the god of the dead shakes his head.
"You don't need to explain yourself to me and I am very aware of the date." Apollo gulps, rubbing his eyes in an attempt to stop crying.
"I miss him. I miss him so much."
"I know, so I brought you a gift. A thank you for saving Cerberus yesterday." The healer remembers what he had done; Hades and Cerberus had been attacked by a giant and Cerberus had been badly injured. Apollo had saved the three-headed dog and Hades had been eternally grateful. The god of the dead cups his hands and blows into them, passing Apollo the contents. The sun god looks down into his palms and smiles shakily at the seeds, sewing them in the meadow. Hades watches with a knowing smile as there is a flash of light, causing both Olympians to flinch and close their eyes. When Apollo opens his eyes, Hades is gone and there is a young man kneeling in the middle of the field, head lowered.
"Hello?" calls Apollo and the boy's head snaps up like he's been shot. His blue lilac eyes fix on the sun god, the colour of the surrounding hyacinths. "No… it can't be… H-Hyan…" whispers the Olympian and suddenly the young man is in the god's arms, clutching at him.
"Yes, Apollo, yes. It is I, I am home." The mortal holds his god tightly and Apollo can't help but cling to him, crying again, but with happiness this time.
"Hyacinthus, my mortal, my prince, oh, I'm so sorry…"
"Shhh, my love, shhh," Hyacinthus whispers, pressing a finger to Apollo's lips. "I'm here now." The sun god laughs weakly, stroking his hands through the Spartan prince's hair just to touch it again.
"I know, I can't quite believe it."
"It is true…" murmurs Hyacinthus and he stands on tiptoe to kiss the god. And at that moment, nothing else mattered in the world because Apollo had the young mortal back and the sun shone brightly, brighter than it had in millennia.
