"Lamp?" The question startled Remus, and he looked up at Sirius with a frown creasing his eyebrows. They were both in bed, the only ones in their dorm room. James was visiting Lily's parents that night, and Peter and their other roommate, Jack, had mysteriously disappeared. Remus was sitting silently, eating a chocolate bar from Honeydukes and Sirius had been sorting his chocolate frog cards.

"Sorry?" Remus asked questioningly, unsure of what Sirius meant.

"May I kiss you?"

This time, Remus spit out his chocolate and started coughing profusely. His face turned red as he choked and spluttered, trying to take in air though lungs that were clogged with delicious molten cocoa. Sirius rushed over and thumped Remus hard on the back a few times.

Remus managed to swallow the chocolate and wiped the tears from his eyes, peering blearily at Sirius, who was sitting next to him on Remus' bed and looking at the werewolf with some concern.

"Can you what?" Remus asked, now thoroughly certain that something was wrong with his ears. Perhaps he was imagining the whole thing, or perhaps James had tried out a new charm on him which made him hear random things...

Instead of answering, Sirius melded his lips to Remus', his tongue darting out and licking a line of chocolate from the werewolf's lip. Remus' heart thundered in his ears and his belly swooped, much as if he were on an elevator that had suddenly dropped.

Sirius pulled back and looked at Remus with a wolfish grin. "May I turn the lamp out?"

"What? Er... yeah, sure..." And with that, Sirius turned off the lamp and meandered back to his own bed, slipping in and seeming to fall asleep immediately.

Remus mused that the world was very strange, and that he had just encountered possibly the weirdest thing in his life. But he fell back against his pillows with a smile on his face.
