You are my sunshine.

"Remus!" her ear-shattering cry pierced the air, still barely audible when compared to the roar of battle.

My only sunshine.

Wobbling legs finally gave way as she collapsed atop of him. Shaking, sobbing, Tonks took his face into her hands.

You make me happy—

"Remus…! REMUS, NO!" He was not dead. He could not go. He would not leave her. She stared into his eyes, unable to focus on anything but. Seeking, searching desperately. And although they were wide open, no one was looking back at her.

—when skies are grey.

"Please," she whimpered, her forehead pressed to his, a mixture of blood and tears on the tip of her tongue. Her hair, black as pitch, hung around them both. "Please, no… please..." Could she ever beg enough?

You'll never know, dear—

"Don't do this…"

—how much I love you.

A flash of green light was her only warning. Nymphadora Tonks-Lupin lifted her head and then there was nothing.

Please don't take—

She fell forward and onto her husband, the side of her face resting against his chest. Over his heart, one no longer beating. Together they laid, the castle crumbling around them, the rubble slowly but surely swallowing them whole.

—my sunshine—

Together, until the end.

—away.
